Massachusetts Lawmakers strip health care bargaining rights from municipal employees

Some say move will save cities more than $100M

BOSTON (FOX 25 / – In a surprising move to balance the state’s budget,  Massachusetts lawmakers voted overwhelmingly late last night to strip health care bargaining rights from municipal employees.
The 111-to-42 vote followed tougher measures to broadly eliminate collective bargaining rights for public employees in Ohio, Wisconsin, and other states.

But unlike efforts in Wisconsin and Ohio that sparked massive protests, the push in Massachusetts was led by state Democrats who have traditionally stood by labor unions.

After the vote, labor leaders lashed out, accusing House Speaker Robert DeLeo and other Democrats of turning their backs on public employees.

“It’s pretty stunning,” said Robert J. Haynes, president of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO. “These are the same Democrats that all these labor unions elected. The same Democrats who we contributed to in their campaigns. The same Democrats who tell us over and over again that they’re with us, that they believe in collective bargaining, that they believe in unions. . . . It’s a done deal for our relationship with the people inside that chamber.”

Supporters say the vote — which still needs approval from the Senate — will save cities and towns more than $100 million.

Gov. Deval Patrick is urging both sides to “dial down the rhetoric” over the plan and said it’s important to pass a bill to ease the health care burden on communities while guaranteeing labor a seat at the table.

Sturbridge Tea Party Meeting Site Shut Down

April 21, 2011 in Uncategorized

It seems that the left got to the owners of the meeting room where we in the Sturbridge Tea Party have our meetings and threatened to boycott the business if they continued to allow is to meet there. They also forced the Poll Watcher Training which was to be held there to be moved as well.
This is in response to the special election in the Sixth Worcester district and the fact the town manager and town clerk do not wish us to “intimidate” voters in Southbridge.

We have found another location for our meetings, and we will keep you posted on the BS in Southbridge.

S&P Cuts US Ratings Outlook to Negative From Stable

As a Junior High School student, I can remember my English teacher drilling into our heads the concept of a narrative climax. She said that the word “climax was from the Greek word “κλῖμαξ” (klimax) meaning “staircase” and “ladder”) or the turning point in a narrative work and is its point of highest tension or drama. It is when the action starts in which the solution is given and i the turning point becomes unmistakable. Speaker Boehner, your substantial Budget capitulation to President Obama has unequivocally resulted in an economic climax for our country’s that has placed us on the road to ”the beginning of the end” of our financial system.

CBO Says Budget Deal Will Cut Spending by Only $352 Million This Year

According to the office of Management and Budget (OMB) our total 2010 Budget spending was officially $3.465Trillion. During the 2010 Campaigns, the Republican Party continually pledged to cut $100 Billion from the 2010 Budget. The pledge resonated with voters and they accordingly gave the House of Representatives back to Republicans.

The math goes like this:

The official 2011 OMB projection is $ 3.819 Trillion

 The 2010 Budget minus $100Billion = $3.465 Trillion-$100Billlion = $3.365Trillion
The 2011 Budget minus the 2010 Budget less $100B=

$3.819 Trillion – $3.365 Trillion = +$454Billion or a

$454 Billion Increase

So where did Speaker Boehner get the Largest Budget Cut in our Government’s History?

They say figures don’t lie but liars figure!

He arrived at the deception, by taking the President’s deceptive Budget INCREASE of $454 Billion in the 2011 Budget and using it as a NEW BASELINE.

He then cut the $454Billion dollar 2011 Budget increse  by $38.5 Billion! But wait, the OMB says that the $38.5 Billion cut is actually only a $352Million dollar cut for this year.In other words pocket change.

Yes, President Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Speaker Boehner and Harry Reid have one major trait in COMMON and it is called DECEPTION.
