The Time has Come to Resurrect The Sons of Liberty

PatriotsThe time has come to resurrect The Sons of Liberty.

We have been hearing for weeks now that the Republican Establishment, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Speaker John Boehner have cooked up an Amnesty Deal. A Deal that will be surreptitiously enacted in the House and Senate such that the final Conference Bill will be passed in the Senate by the Democrat Majority and in the House by a mix of all Democrats and Republican Establishment defectors who will be well rewarded by being allowed to retain their Committee Chairmanships’.

The Deal came into the open on the Glenn Beck show when modern-day Patriots Representatives Michele Bachmann (Minn.), Steve King (Iowa) and Louie Gohmert (Texas) along with 67 other stalwarts determined that they could not go along with the deception and decided to risk their careers in a showdown with Boehner.  Read more here Now that the deception has been made public, Speaker Boehner is saying that he doesn’t “intend” to push a bill that violates Republican Party “principles.”

Don’t be deceived by the Boehner’s latest ruse.  He fully intends to implement the Deal, unless “We the People”, take back our government. We have to have patience.  We are now engaged in a battle for survival for our way of life. If you value the future for your children and grandchildren, then you must become engaged and stick it out as long as it takes to convince our political class that we have had it and it is Speaker Boehner and the Republicans that defect that will bear the angst of the citizenry.

Remember first and foremost that these 70 brave souls have placed their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor on the line for us. We must in turn protect their backs from the administrators of this deception, both now and the future.  We cannot allow the retribution that was delivered to Colonel Allen West to befall any of our brave patriots.

On June 19th you will have an opportunity to stand up against Amnesty and all the other reprehensible scandals that have rocked your faith  in our government by joining  Representatives Michele Bachmann , Steve King  and Louie Gohmert, in front of the U.S. Capital. If you can’t be there physically, you can use the occasion to call your Representatives and Senators as well as to voice  support for the 70 Representatives’  who are demanding that the Speaker honor the  Hastert Rule that requires  support from a majority of the majority to bring a bill forward.

Our way of life has been gradually under attack and sometimes we may feel that there is nothing that we can do. However, our Constitution gives the power to the people and we must make it clear to all our elected Representatives that we will exercise that power to rid our country once and for all from Amnesty, that promises to bankrupt our nation, from surveillance that threatens our Personal Liberty, and from corrupt, anti-Constitutional officials and bureaucrats that threaten our life, our liberty and our pursuit of happiness.

Lois Lerner’s Arrogance Results in the Waiving of Her 5th Amendment Right Against Self-Incrimination

CONFUSION ERUPTS IN IRS HEARING AFTER LOIS LERNER TRIES TO PLEAD THE 5TH — WATCH IT ALL UNFOLD

The Internal Revenue Service official at the center of the political targeting scandal invoked her constitutional right not to answer lawmakers’ questions on Wednesday, but defiantly asserted that she has done nothing wrong — prompting confusion about how exactly she was using her right not to incriminate herself.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) told Politico that Lois Lerner, who leads the IRS office that determines which organizations receive tax-exempt status, will be brought before his panel again.

Lerner was the first to publicly disclose earlier this month that the IRS gave extra scrutiny to conservative groups.

“I have not done anything wrong, I have not broken any laws, I have not violated any IRS rules or regulations and I have not provided false information to this or any other congressional committee,” Lerner told House Oversight and Government Reform Committee members. “While I would very much like to answer the committee’s questions today, I have been advised by my counsel to assert my constitutional right not to testify or answer questions related to the subject manner of this hearing.”

Lerner added that by asserting her right not to testify, “I know that some people will assume I have done something wrong. I have not. One of the basic functions of the Fifth Amendment is to protect innocent individuals, and that is the protection I am invoking today.”

http://youtu.be/rxauVtK59xc

Issa noted during the hearing that because Lerner had asserted her innocence in her opening statement, “I believe you have not asserted your rights but have effectively waived your rights” and took her refusal to answer as a refusal to testify.

An incensed Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) spoke up that Lerner should testify, agreeing that she already waived her constitutional privilege.

“You don’t get to tell your side of the story and not be subjected to cross-examination. That’s not the way it works. She waived her right to Fifth Amendment privilege by issuing an opening statement, she ought to stand here and answer our questions,” Gowdy said, earning applause from the audience.

A bushel of Pinocchios for IRS’s Lois Lerner

Posted by  at 06:00 AM ET, 05/20/2013

(Andrew Harrer/BLOOMBERG)

In the days since the Internal Revenue Service first disclosed that it had targeted conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status, new information has emerged from both the Treasury inspector general’s report and congressional testimony Friday that calls into question key statements made by Lois G. Lerner, the IRS’s director of the exempt organizations division.

The clumsy way the IRS disclosed the issue, as well as Lerner’s press briefing by phone, were seen at the time as a public relations disaster. But even so, it is worth reviewing three key statements made by Lerner and comparing them to the facts that have since emerged.

“But between 2010 and 2012, we started seeing a very big uptick in the number of 501(c)(4) applications we were receiving, and many of these organizations applying more than doubled, about 1500 in 2010 and over 3400 in 2012.”

Lerner made this comment while issuing a seemingly impromptu apology at an American Bar Association panel. (It was later learned that this was a planted question — more on that below.) In her telling, the tax-exempt branch was simply overwhelmed by applications, and so unfortunate shortcuts were taken.

But this claim of “more than doubled” appears to be a red herring. The targeting of groups began in early 2010, after the Supreme Court’s decision in Citizens United v. FEC was announced on Jan. 21. The ruling led to increased interest in a tax-exempt status known as 501(c)(4). Most charities apply under 501(c)(3), but under 501(c)(4), nonprofit groups that engage in “social welfare” can also perform a limited amount of election activity.

At first glance, the inspector general’s report appears to show that the number of 501(c)(4) applications actually went down that year, from 1,751 in 2009 to 1,735.

But it turns out that these are federal fiscal-year figures, meaning “2010” is actually Oct. 1, 2009 to Sept. 30, 2010, so the “2010” year includes more than three months before the Supreme Court decision was announced.

Astonishingly, despite Lerner’s public claim, an IRS spokeswoman was not able to provide the actual calendar year numbers. By allocating one-quarter of the fiscal year numbers to the prior year, we can get a very rough sense of the increase on a calendar-year basis. (Figures are rounded to avoid false precision; 2012 is not possible to calculate.)

2009: 1745

2010: 1865

2011: 2540

In other words, while there was an increase in 2010, it was relatively small. The real jump did not come until 2011, long after the targeting of conservative groups had been implemented. Also, it appears Lerner significantly understated the number of applications in 2010 (“1500”) in order to make her claim of “more than doubled.”

“I think you guys were reading the paper as much as I was. So it was pretty much we started seeing information in the press that raised questions for us, and we went back and took a look.”

Here, Lerner suggests that she found out about this issue only when news reports appeared in February and March 2012 about tea party groups complaining that they were being targeted. But the IG timelineshows this claim to be false.

According the IG, Lerner had a briefing on the issue on June 29, 2011, in which she was told about the BOLO (“Be On the Look Out”) criteria that included words such as “tea party” or “patriots.” The report says she raised concerns about the wording and “instructed that the criteria be immediately revised.” She continued to be heavily involved in the issue in the months preceding the new reports, according to the timeline.

“I don’t believe anyone ever asked me that question before.”

This was Lerner’s excuse during the media call for why she had not publicly addressed the issue before.

But in congressional testimony Friday, outgoing acting director Steven T. Miller said he had talked with Lerner about arranging to make a statement at a May 10 conference sponsored by the American Bar Association, knowing that the IG report would soon be released.

Lerner then contacted a friend, Celia Roady, a tax attorney with the Washington firm Morgan Lewis, to get her to ask a question about the targeting, according to a statement by Roady on Friday. (Roady hadpreviously denied this was a planted question when asked directly by participants at the meeting.)

So Lerner was dissembling when she suggested that a simple well-aimed question prompted the disclosure.

In fact, just two days before the ABA conference, Lerner appeared before Congress and was asked by Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-N.Y.) about the status of investigations into 501(c)(4) groups. She provided a bland answer about a questionnaire on the IRS Web site, failing to take the opportunity to disclose the results of the probe. (The clip is embedded below, with the question coming at 5:09.) Small wonder that Crowley is now calling for her to resign, saying that Lerner lied to him.

http://youtu.be/8kZABHzFa-4We gave the IRS the weekend to provide a response. A spokeswoman said the agency was not able to offer an explanation for Lerner’s remarks in time for our deadline

The Pinocchio Test

In some ways, this is just scratching the surface of Lerner’s misstatements and weasely wording when the revelations about the IRS’s activities first came to light on May 10. But, taken together, it’s certainly enough to earn her four Pinocchios.

Biometric Database of All Adult Americans Hidden in Immigration Reform

May 12, 2013 in "Bill of Rights", 1st Amendment, Constitution, Homeland Security, Immigration by admin

biometrics-660x880By David Kravets 05.10.13 6:30 AM

The immigration reform measure the Senate began debating yesterday would create a national biometric database of virtually every adult in the U.S., in what privacy groups fear could be the first step to a ubiquitous national identification system.

Buried in the more than 800 pages of the bipartisan legislation (.pdf)  is language mandating the creation of the innocuously-named “photo tool,” a massive federal database administered by the Department of Homeland Security and containing names, ages, Social Security numbers and photographs of everyone in the country with a driver’s license or other state-issued photo ID.

Employers would be obliged to look up every new hire in the database to verify that they match their photo.

This piece of the Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act is aimed at curbing employment of undocumented immigrants. But privacy advocates fear the inevitable mission creep, ending with the proof of self being required at polling places, to rent a house, buy a gun, open a bank account, acquire credit, board a plane or even attend a sporting event or log on the internet. Think of it as a government version of Foursquare, with Big Brother cataloging every check-in.

“It starts to change the relationship between the citizen and state, you do have to get permission to do things,” said Chris Calabrese, a congressional lobbyist with the American Civil Liberties Union. “More fundamentally, it could be the start of keeping a record of all things.”

For now, the legislation allows the database to be used solely for employment purposes. But historically such limitations don’t last. The Social Security card, for example, was created to track your government retirement benefits. Now you need it to purchase health insurance.

“The Social Security number itself, it’s pretty ubiquitous in your life,” Calabrese said.

David Bier, an analyst with the Competitive Enterprise Institute, agrees with the ACLU’s fears.

“The most worrying aspect is that this creates a principle of permission basically to do certain activities and it can be used to restrict activities,” he said. “It’s like a national ID system without the card.”

For the moment, the debate in the Senate Judiciary Committee is focused on the parameters of legalization for unauthorized immigrants, a border fence and legal immigration in the future.

The committee is scheduled to resume debate on the package Tuesday.

Despite the differences, if we don’t start talking to people outside our own group, we’ll never accomplish nothing. I’m looking forward to hearing what they have to say. After all, wasn’t the tea party formed to work outside the established party system as well? We don’t have to agree on every position but it is nice to know there has become.

Michael McNeil I don’t know. The No Labels group is a far left group. Pretty sure they are using the Tea Party to push for their very liberal agenda. Have you looked at the people that belong to No Labels?

Christen Varley “Far left” is a mischaracterization – on any continuum. And so what if they are? Why is it a bad thing to let people hear what they have to say and decide for themselves? Sheesh! I really don’t understand this invented controversy. Since when has the tea party told people what they should think, what they should do, who they should listen to. GBTP has NEVER done that and isn’t starting now. Other TP leaders may think people need to be dictated to – GBTP doesn’t. Nobody gets harmed by hearing someone speak for 8 minutes out of two hours.

Finally, if someone who is in the tea party is duped into following an agenda that is contrary to limited government, personal responsibility and individual liberty, they’re not really “tea party” to begin with.

An unclassified U.S. intelligence report says Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is “moving forcefully” to stifle media criticism by closing scores of radio stations, tightening controls on one TV station and maneuvering to seize control of another.

So you believe that a Chavez like media take over  can’t happen here.

Barack Hussein Obama has his good friend and “Fast and Furious” gun running accomplice,  Attorney General Eric Holder seeking to destroy the Rupert Murdoch news empire so that the Fox Networks can be muzzled.

This may turn out to be the greatest threat to our liberty and consequently to our Constitution, since 911. If our “Dear Leader” and his minions are allowed to move forward on their Fascist policies and  to continue to deprive us of  our 2nd Amendment Rights, adopt United Nations Treaties and implement Amnesty without there being a vehicle or channel available for dissent, not only will Fox be muzzled but so will all  ‘Liberty-Loving Citizens”.

WE had better stand up to these bullies while we can. Call your Senators and Congressmen and tell them to demand that Attorney General Holder cease his witch hunt of News Corp and the Fox Networks.

Holder Has Joined the War on Fox With Murdoch In His Sights

February 13, 2012

Rupert Murdoch In Holder’s Sights

The War of Fox continues with attempts being made by our DOJ to dismantle and destroy Rupert Murdoch’s enterprise. Despite ample evidence that almost every news organization in Britain engaged in some type of hacking, the long arm of the Chicago thug, Eric Holder, is attempting to bring Murdoch under U.S. prosecutorial jurisdiction for alleged bribery under the Corrupt Practices Act.

Such a prosecution exposes Murdoch and his executives to fines of tens of millions of dollars and serious jail time.

Holder is attempting to make a connection between the News of the World hacking scandal in Britain and activities at the U.S. based Sun newspaper with the Operation Elevden arrests. Many view it as a witch hunt.

…The latest Operation Elveden arrests sharply increase the danger to News Corporation of potential multimillion dollar fines by US authorities as part of the continuing investigation into alleged bribery of public officials under the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).

The eight arrests escalate the FCPA crisis for the company by extending the allegations of bribery from the News of the World to the Sun newspaper, and by broadening its scope from police officers to other public officials. An official from the Ministry of Defence and a member of the armed forces were also arrested for alleged corruption and “misconduct in a public office”.

The threat of prosecution under the FCPA constitutes the greatest danger of the phone-hacking scandal for Rupert Murdoch‘s media empire. It could expose the company to tens of millions of dollars in fines and the risk of imprisonment of its executive officers.

It would also bring the scandal to America, which is the financial heart of the global company. News Corporation’s headquarters are on Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue, which is why the company is susceptible to the FCPA, a law introduced in the 1970s to hold US-based companies accountable for acts of bribery and corruption abroad.

Mike Koehler, an expert in FCPA law at Butler university, said Saturday’s arrests marked an escalation in the risk of an FCPA prosecution. “This spreads the alleged bribery to a completely different newspaper, to a different segment of the company and to other public officials,” he said.

Eric Holder, the US attorney general, launched a preliminary investigation into News Corporation’s activities last July. The FBI is known to be involved in the investigation on both sides of the Atlantic…Read here: Guardian UK

It is amazing how Holder has the time to do this while destroying Swiss banks and covering up Fast & Furious.

Barack Hussein Obama Continues His Unprecedented Personal Attacks Against Fox News

January 28, 2013 in "Bill of Rights", 1st Amendment, President Obama, Redistribution of Wealth by Admin1

bill_of_rights_page1Having launched an attack against our Bill of Rights 2nd Amendment entitlement to bear Arms, Barack Hussein Obama is now carrying out a vendetta against our 1st Amendment Rights of  “…abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press…”.  Never in our memory has a U.S. President so openly, so divisively attempted to divide and polarize our country.  After Barack Hussein Obama graduated from that Calderon of radical Progressivism Harvard Law School, he was hired, first as an instructor, and then as an adjunct professor of law, at the University of Chicago Law School. As adjunct professor he taught three courses, including Constitutional Law, from 1992 to 2004. One could argue that perhaps Obama had a clandestine purpose in choosing Constitutional Law; that is to undermine and dismantle the Constitution.  Whether or not you agree that this was his intent, you couldn’t disagree that as a Constitutional Lawyer, Professor and President sworn to uphold the Constitution, he is singlehandedly dismantling it. Why? So that he can redistribute OUR Country’s  WEALTH!

In September last year, Glenn Beck Stated, Back in 1998, Barack Obama was recorded saying, “I think the trick is figuring out how do we structure government systems that pool resources and hence facilitate some redistribution because I actually believe in redistribution.”

“He actually believes in redistribution. Okay. This is really the one thing about Barack Obama that he has told the truth about over and over and over again, but nobody will believe him! Nobody! He said it before the last campaign,” Glenn said.

You’d have to be some sort of amazing deity to grow up surrounded by Marxists, communists, socialists, people who are on the FBI watch list because they’re so dangerous. His parents, his grandparents, his mentor, his college professors. He talked about hanging around with them all this college, the Marxists, the radical feminists, the anticolonial isolated. Even his spiritual 20‑year mentor, Jeremiah Wright, all the most important people in his life were strong believers in Marxism and Marxist principles. What chance did this guy ever have to understand capitalism? He’s never been around it. Never.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. –  Alabama’s routing of  Notre Dame for its second straight national championship has been overshadowed  in part by a new breakout star —  Katherine Webb, girlfriend of quarterback AJ  McCarron and Miss Alabama USA 2012.

Webb gained tens of thousands of Twitter followers during and after Monday  night’s game, when ESPN cameras visited and revisited Webb in the stands and  announcer Brent Musburger piled on the compliments. As of noon Tuesday, she had  topped 143,000 followers, trumping McCarron’s 101,000. Before the game, Webb  —   who graduated with a business degree from longtime Alabama rival Auburn  University in 2011, according to her pageant biography  —  had only a few  hundred.

“Wow, I’m telling you quarterbacks: You get all the good-looking women,”  Musburger said as the camera focused on Webb, sitting with McCarron’s mother.  “What a beautiful woman. Wow!”

Free Speech Questions Arise After Obama’s Admin Ask Google For “Review”

An anti-Islamic film that sparked violent protests across the Muslim world has now been banned in Malaysia, upon the request of local Internet regulators — following blocks in several other predominately Muslim countries.

The low-budget movie, entitled “Innocence of Muslims,” has angered followers of Islam for its mocking of the Prophet Mohammed, and for portraying Muslims as immoral and gratuitously violent, according to a report on AFP.

“When videos breach those rules, we remove them. Where we have launched YouTube locally and we are notified that a video is illegal in that country, we will restrict access to it after a thorough review,” a spokesman for Google, which owns video site YouTube, told AFP on Monday.

The site began restricting access to clips of the privately-produced film Sunday, in line with its community guidelines, according to the report.

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) was reported to have asked Google Saturday to remove clips of the controversial film, AFP reported, which is believed to have been produced by a small group of extremist Christians in the United States, from YouTube.

Some extracts of it were still available on the video-sharing website on Monday but several other clips had been blocked to users in the Muslim-majority country.

Google has also denied access to the videos in Indonesia, Libya, Egypt and India.

Pastor compares Obama to Judas over same sex marriage
By Eric W. Dolan
Rev. Williams Owens, founder of the Coalition of African-Americans Pastors, on Tuesday compared President Barack Obama to Judas, the apostle who betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver in the Bible.

“The President is in the White House because of the civil rights movement, and I was a leader in that movement, nd I didn’t march one inch, one foot, one yard for a man to marry a man or a woman to marry a woman,” he said at the National Press Club.

“So the President has forgotten the price that was paid,” Owens continued. “People died or they suffered or they gave their blood to have equal rights in the United States. And for the homosexual community and for the President to bow to the money, as Judas did with Jesus Christ, is a disgrace and we are ashamed. We will not take it back. We will not back down. We are going to take action across this country to change the course that this President has us in.”

Owens, who consults with the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) as a liaison to black churches, has launched a national campaign urging African-American voters to oppose the reelection of Obama.

Documents released in March as the result of an investigation revealed that NOM planned to “drive a wedge between gays and blacks” to prevent same sex marriage from becoming legal.

The organization hoped to “(f)ind, equip, energize and connect African American spokespeople for marriage [and] develop a media campaign around their objections to gay marriage as a civil right.”

The Tea Party Influence – The New Faces Of The GOP

Tea Party activists may keep low profile at first GOP convention
By Cristina Corbin Published August 25, 2012 FoxNews.com
Next week marks the Tea Party’s first Republican convention.
But despite its role in helping the party win the House majority in 2010, the movement is expected to keep a relatively low profile inside the arena, activists say. Some Tea Party groups are deliberately giving the party space to spotlight its nominee, though others claim they’re being snubbed by GOP leaders.

The Tea Party, of course, is composed of thousands of different groups, each with its own causes. A Tea Party scene could erupt in Tampa at any moment. But unlike some other factions heading into the once-every-four-years affair, the Tea Party does not appear to have a concerted agenda.
Gop Platform Emerging Draws Praise and Criticism

Instead, the movement may just settle for speaking roles for favored politicians and shout-outs in the platform.

The four-day convention in Tampa will kick off Monday with speeches from Tea Party favorites, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Senate candidate Ted Cruz of Texas. The party’s draft platform that will be voted on includes many of the conservative policies championed by the movement.

FreedomWorks, a Washington-based Tea Party-aligned think tank started by former House GOP leader Dick Armey, announced Wednesday that nearly all of its “Freedom Platform” has been adopted by the GOP, including a repeal of President Obama’s health care law, an end to tax hikes and an audit of the Federal Reserve.

“They were very open to our ideas and willing to work with us,” FreedomWorks vice president Russ Walker said of the platform-writing committee chaired by Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven and Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn.
The Tea Party’s visibility beyond that, though, may be minimal at the convention, activists say. The expectation has drawn mixed reactions from the loosely organized anti-tax movement.

“They like the work we’re doing, but they’re afraid because they don’t want to turn off independents with the Tea Party brand,” said Todd Cefaratti of the group, TheTeaParty.Net. The group has filed a petition called “Let Them Speak,” urging the Republican National Committee to allow Tea Party leaders to speak at the convention.

“You get these moderate Republicans and they say ‘I don’t want to offend Grandma Independent,’” Cefaratti said. TheTeaParty.Net is a chief sponsor of the “Unity Rally 2012” to be held at a Tampa church on the eve of the convention, featuring speeches by Tea Party darlings and former presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain.

“It’s our response to a lot of our leaders being shut out of the convention,” Cefaratti said.
Another group, The Kitchen Table Patriots, also expressed resentment over the Tea Party’s representation at the convention.

“The amount of effort that the GOP went through to make sure that no Tea Party person went to the convention was unbelievable,” said Anastasia Przybylski, one of the group’s co-founders. “I did not see it coming.”

Przybylski’s counterpart, Ana Puig, claims the GOP in Bucks County, Pa., spent $70,000 to derail her run to become a delegate at the convention. Puig is now paying her way to go as an “honorary delegate,” she said, meaning “I can do everything except vote.”

“What is the convention going to accomplish except that Mitt Romney will formally be the candidate? It’s a shoulder-rubbing event,” Puig said.

Puig, however, said she is happy the Tea Party’s platform has been well-received by the RNC, adding that she’s hopeful “we would see a trickle down effect to the GOP on the local level,” she said.

“I am looking at this trip as a way for us, Tea Party, and GOP to try to mend some fences and move side by side to secure a big win in November.”

But not everyone within the movement believes Tea Party leaders should be on prominent display during the convention.

“This is the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan show and it should be,” said Sal Russo of the Tea Party Express, one of the most visible factions of the movement. “We don’t have an agenda beyond that.”

“I would consider this an extremely successful convention for the Tea Party,” Russo said, noting that Romney was always among his group’s top three picks for a presidential nominee. “We thought we shouldn’t try and intrude on a convention that we’re happy with.”

Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots, echoed Russo’s sentiment, characterizing the convention as “more style than substance.”

“The purpose is to legally nominate their candidate,” Martin told FoxNews.com. “Tea Party Patriots are far more concerned about what laws are going to be passed than what they’re doing at a party in Florida and Charlotte.”

“As long as our values are represented, we are making an effect. What we will be happy about is when bills are signed into law that repeal the president’s health care law, and when the budget is balanced and when we’re on the road to recovery,” she said. “The convention is just a very small step along the way.”

Tulsa Police Officer Punished for Religious Belief? Political Correctness Gone Awray?

Punished for Religious Belief? Political Correctness Gone Awray?

A Tulsa police officer and devout Christian is suing his department after being punished for refusing to go to a mosque for a mandatory cultural event.
Police Capt. Paul Campbell Fields, a 17-year veteran, was docked two weeks’ pay, transferred, reduced to the graveyard shift and made ineligible for promotions for at least a year, after he told his chief his faith made it impossible for him to attend a “Law Enforcement Appreciation Day” at the Islamic Cultural Society of Tulsa, according to the lawsuit.

Fields, 43, is a non-denominational Christian, who quoted Scripture in legal explanation of his insubordination.
“This event is compelling me to go to a venue where a group of individuals is prepared to discuss their (Islamic) faith,” Fields said during a May 2012 deposition, the transcript of which was obtained by FoxNews.com. “And in my faith, I have a duty to proselytize my faith to people (who) don’t subscribe to my faith. I can’t do that in uniform. And so therein lies the conflict or moral dilemma I face.”
Fields’ attorney, Robert Muise of The American Freedom Law Center, elaborated, “He was going to be in a place where people were going to refer to Jesus Christ as merely a prophet and not his Lord and Savior.
“And he wouldn’t be able to respond to them in any way,” Muise added. “That was very troubling to him.”
Fields is seeking his docked pay, attorney’s fees, as well as compensatory damages for the “humiliation” — and damage to his reputation — he suffered as a result of the affair.
The donnybrook has its origins in a Jan. 25, 2011, Tulsa Police Department staff meeting, in which Deputy Police Chief Alvin Webster informed fellow officers of the March 4 event at the Islamic center.
At that point, attendance was voluntary, according to the lawsuit.
The Islamic Cultural Center of Tulsa did not return calls or emails from FoxNews.com, but a promotional flier for the event cited in the suit states the event would include meetings with Muslim community leaders, a tour of the center’s mosque, talks on Islam, as well as a 45-minute prayer service.
On Feb. 17, Webster sent out another email stating that attendance at the event was no longer voluntary, and that Fields was to order at least a few of the 25 or so men under his command to accompany him, there.
Fields replied that he believed the said order was an unlawful one, “in direct conflict with my personal religious convictions.” In that email, Fields described Webster’s order as, “conscience shocking.”
Fields cc’d the department’s chief, Charles W. Jordan, as well as other superiors on the email.
Four days later, Fields found himself explaining his actions at a  meeting in Jordan’s conference room. There, Webster asked — on tape — if Fields had solicited volunteers to attend the Islamic center’s event.
“Yes, I have,” Fields replied, to which Webster asked, according to the suit, “Okay, and the response?”
“Is zero,” replied the captain.
“All right,” said Webster, “And so that makes this fairly easy. Are you prepared to designate two officers and a supervisor or yourself to attend this event?”
“No,” said Fields, to which Webster replied by slapping the captain with the aforementioned punishments. Since then, Fields has toiled, according Muise, from 8:45 p.m. to about 7 a.m. on the “graveyard shift.”
On Feb. 24, the department made the Islamic center event voluntary for all officers, although with a catch. Officers could give a medical excuse for not going, but not one based on religious grounds, the suit states.
For its part, the City of Tulsa denied comment other than to say, “The police department serves every citizen regardless of demographics. We cannot comment in this case or on any pending litigation.”
Fields has said that if it were merely a police matter to which he was called, requiring him to enter a mosque, he would have no problem doing his duty as an officer.

The married man also added during the May deposition, “I’m a Christian. Okay? I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior. As a Christian, I have a duty to proselytize the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“I also have a duty to repent for my sins and I have a duty to increase my … relationship with the Lord through the Scripture and good deeds.

“As I said before — I don’t know that I can make it any clearer. Islam is not my faith. It’s different than my religion … And when I come to work, I don’t presume to know someone’s religion. It doesn’t enter into the question when I’m providing a police call for service.
“Here, I have an instance where I’m being compelled to attend an event that’s very — it’s an open invitation to discuss their religion …and yet I can’t express my faith to them.”
Fields declined to comment directly on the matter. His attorney, Muise, initially replied to a 1 p.m. call from FoxNews.com by saying he was sleeping, having returned from the night shift shortly after 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Chick-fil-A supporters plan appreciation day Published August 01, 2012 Associated Press

ATLANTA – Supporters of Chick-fil-A are planning to eat at restaurants in the chicken chain as the company continues to be criticized for an executive’s comments about gay marriage.

Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, a Baptist minister, declared Wednesday national “Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day.”

Chick-fil-A president Dan Cathy told the Baptist Press last month that the Atlanta-based company was “guilty as charged” for backing “the biblical definition of a family.” That unleashed a torrent of criticism from gay rights groups and others, who have called for boycotts and efforts to block the chain from opening new stores.

Opponents of the company’s stance are planning “Kiss Mor Chiks” for Friday, when they are encouraging people of the same sex to show up at Chick-fil-A restaurants around the country and kiss each other.
