Deval Patrick Eyed to Succeed Barack Hussein Obama

November 30, 2012 in Deval Patrick, MA, Political Deception, Political Machine, Politics, Presidential Candidates, Socialist by Admin1

Folks get ready for another carpetbagger to make a run for the White House from MA. Deval has probably spent more time at the White House and on the campaign trail for Barack than he has spent on MA soil and he embraces the same ideology.

Will he be Barack’s Surrogate in 2016?

Could you imagine him as our Commander-in-Chief? If his Administrations patronage appointment of  a drunken menace, Shelia  Burgess to  MA Highway Safety Director is any indication, he will do just fine. Besides, the lack of any record or paper trail for her patronage appointment, shows that he is competent to follow Barack because he mastered the art of deniability and obfuscation.

BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Governor Deval Patrick says state officials followed proper protocol in destroying some of the record related to the hiring of former Highway Safety Director Sheila Burgess.

While he was in Washigton and campaigning for Barack around thecountry , his State Police Crime Lab chemist was busy doctoring over 34,000 lab investigations that have resulted in placing hardened criminals back on our streets.  H’mmm, I wonder who may have appointed her?

The Governor is being called on to fire the “Highway Safety” Director because her driving record is worse than a drunk’s. Her driving record has 34 entries since 1982, and her license was “nonrenewable” until November 1st because of a failure to pay local excise taxes. The Telegram reported:

“Three Republican state representatives from Central Massachusetts yesterday called on Gov. Deval L. Patrick and Lt. Gov. Timothy P. Murray to fire Sheila Burgess, the state’s highway safety director, whom The Boston Globe reported has a driving record that includes seven accidents, four speeding violations, and two failures to stop for a police officer.”

It turns out she was only in that position because of political favors. She used to work as a fundraiser for U.S. Congressman James McGovern, a Democrat from Worcester, and she also was a principal in a firm that worked for Massachusetts’ current Democratic governor Patrick when he was a candidate for mayor about 10 years ago. For this reason, the three Republican state representatives are also calling on the House Committee on Post Audit and Oversight to investigate the Governor’s administration for patronage.

Deval Patrick for President 2016!!!

By: oldtownyankee (Diary)  |  November 24th, 2012 at 03:19 PM  |

Well folks, before you laugh his name is being tossed around by the secular progressive left up here in Massachusetts as well as other bastions of secular progressivism as an encore to Barrack Hussein Obama! Moreover, he and Obama are cut from the very same piece of cloth, know each other very well, speak the same language and embrace the destruction of the Constitutions as we know it.

Patrick was the author of the famed “Yes we can” chant that Obama adopted in 2008. Patrick’s name has surfaced on numerous occasions as being in line for a cabinet position in the Obama administration. Just recently Patrick granted children of illegal immigrants in state tuition dovetailing off of the executive order that Obama handed down last summer where by children of illegal’s shall not be deported. Patrick sighted that order in his executive order.

Best yet, Deval Patrick, once he got going would make Barrack Obama look and sound like William F. Buckley! This guy is a “Moon Bats Moon Bat”. The left loves him, the papers fawn over him, conservatives loath him and the day that he throws his hat into the ring, he has a better than 50% chance of being the next President.

Would Patrick not start out by being the prohibitive favorite in all the blue states that Obama won? Wouldn’t the upper Midwest go for Patrick i.e. Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa without much of a fight? If Obama could win Colorado and Nevada in this economy, would not Patrick do the same four years from now? How about Florida and Virginia? Won’t they have even more government dependants and minorities by 2016?  Who needs Ohio?

Barrack Obama proved beyond any doubt, if nothing else, that its not the reality of the state of the Union, the reality of the economy, our influence in the world or lack there of but what the uninformed voter’s perception of the aforementioned is. So Patrick could and will deliver the same type of message that Obama did and all indications are it could very well work again.

Just look around. The United States of America is wallowing the worst recovery ever helped in large part by the Obama’s administrations policies. We have subjugated our foreign policy to the UN. We have no energy policy. The family as the bedrock of society is eroding further yet. Jobs are very few and getting worse as more of our manufacturing goes over seas, with no end in sight. Nothing is working and everything is either stalled, going backwards or barely creeping along. Yet in spite of all this, if one looks at Obama’s job performance, it will be at better than 50%. If we are to believe the print media a vast plurality of Americans think he’s just great.

Clint Eastwood brings down house at GOP conventionClint Eastwood brings down house at GOP convention
Published August 30, 2012 Associated Press
TAMPA, Fla. –  Clint Eastwood whipped up the crowd at the Republican National Convention ahead of GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s acceptance speech.
The iconic star of “Dirty Harry” and the Oscar-winning director of “Unforgiven” and “Million Dollar Baby,” Eastwood criticized President Barack Obama for failing to turn the economy around and for wanting to close the Guantanamo Bay prison for terror suspects.

Eastwood says Obama has failed to deliver on his promises and it’s time for Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, to take over.
He entertained the audience with a mock interview with Obama, posing questions and pretending that Obama had told Eastwood to shut up.

Sarah Palin With Megin Kelly On Ryan Speech and Yahoo bureau chief firing

Sarah Palin Says VP Joe Joe Biden Will Probably Call In Sick For The Debate With Ryan!

Yahoo News fires reporter, apologizes to Romney over ‘black people drowning’ remark
Published August 29, 2012 FoxNews.com

Yahoo News’ Washington bureau chief was fired Wednesday after he was caught on a hot mic joking that Republicans are “happy to have a party” while black people drown.

The comment was made by David Chalian during live coverage of the Republican National Convention in Tampa, and was an apparent reference to the convention getting underway while a tropical storm-turned-hurricane barreled toward the Gulf Coast.

“They are happy to have a party with black people drowning,” said a voice off-camera, later identified as Chalian, as video of the Romneys played on screen. Other people could be heard laughing at the comment.

A Yahoo! spokesperson confirmed to FoxNews.com that Chalian was let go, and said the company has apologized to Romney and his staff.

“David Chalian’s statement was inappropriate and does not represent the views of Yahoo!. He has been terminated effective immediately. We have already reached out to the Romney campaign, and we apologize to Mitt Romney, his staff, their supporters and anyone who was offended,” the spokesperson said in a statement.

Chalian posted his own apology later Wednedsay on Twitter: “I am profoundly sorry for making an inappropriate and thoughtless joke.”

Chalian used to work for ABC before moving on to serve as the political director at “PBS NewsHour” and eventually work for Yahoo News.

He appeared to still be employed by the company as of Wednesday morning, having posted on his Facebook page about a “great conversation” he had with Romney’s “campaign brass” in Tampa.

The Tea Party Influence – The New Faces Of The GOP

Tea Party activists may keep low profile at first GOP convention
By Cristina Corbin Published August 25, 2012 FoxNews.com
Next week marks the Tea Party’s first Republican convention.
But despite its role in helping the party win the House majority in 2010, the movement is expected to keep a relatively low profile inside the arena, activists say. Some Tea Party groups are deliberately giving the party space to spotlight its nominee, though others claim they’re being snubbed by GOP leaders.

The Tea Party, of course, is composed of thousands of different groups, each with its own causes. A Tea Party scene could erupt in Tampa at any moment. But unlike some other factions heading into the once-every-four-years affair, the Tea Party does not appear to have a concerted agenda.
Gop Platform Emerging Draws Praise and Criticism

Instead, the movement may just settle for speaking roles for favored politicians and shout-outs in the platform.

The four-day convention in Tampa will kick off Monday with speeches from Tea Party favorites, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Senate candidate Ted Cruz of Texas. The party’s draft platform that will be voted on includes many of the conservative policies championed by the movement.

FreedomWorks, a Washington-based Tea Party-aligned think tank started by former House GOP leader Dick Armey, announced Wednesday that nearly all of its “Freedom Platform” has been adopted by the GOP, including a repeal of President Obama’s health care law, an end to tax hikes and an audit of the Federal Reserve.

“They were very open to our ideas and willing to work with us,” FreedomWorks vice president Russ Walker said of the platform-writing committee chaired by Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, North Dakota Sen. John Hoeven and Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn.
The Tea Party’s visibility beyond that, though, may be minimal at the convention, activists say. The expectation has drawn mixed reactions from the loosely organized anti-tax movement.

“They like the work we’re doing, but they’re afraid because they don’t want to turn off independents with the Tea Party brand,” said Todd Cefaratti of the group, TheTeaParty.Net. The group has filed a petition called “Let Them Speak,” urging the Republican National Committee to allow Tea Party leaders to speak at the convention.

“You get these moderate Republicans and they say ‘I don’t want to offend Grandma Independent,’” Cefaratti said. TheTeaParty.Net is a chief sponsor of the “Unity Rally 2012” to be held at a Tampa church on the eve of the convention, featuring speeches by Tea Party darlings and former presidential candidates Michele Bachmann and Herman Cain.

“It’s our response to a lot of our leaders being shut out of the convention,” Cefaratti said.
Another group, The Kitchen Table Patriots, also expressed resentment over the Tea Party’s representation at the convention.

“The amount of effort that the GOP went through to make sure that no Tea Party person went to the convention was unbelievable,” said Anastasia Przybylski, one of the group’s co-founders. “I did not see it coming.”

Przybylski’s counterpart, Ana Puig, claims the GOP in Bucks County, Pa., spent $70,000 to derail her run to become a delegate at the convention. Puig is now paying her way to go as an “honorary delegate,” she said, meaning “I can do everything except vote.”

“What is the convention going to accomplish except that Mitt Romney will formally be the candidate? It’s a shoulder-rubbing event,” Puig said.

Puig, however, said she is happy the Tea Party’s platform has been well-received by the RNC, adding that she’s hopeful “we would see a trickle down effect to the GOP on the local level,” she said.

“I am looking at this trip as a way for us, Tea Party, and GOP to try to mend some fences and move side by side to secure a big win in November.”

But not everyone within the movement believes Tea Party leaders should be on prominent display during the convention.

“This is the Mitt Romney-Paul Ryan show and it should be,” said Sal Russo of the Tea Party Express, one of the most visible factions of the movement. “We don’t have an agenda beyond that.”

“I would consider this an extremely successful convention for the Tea Party,” Russo said, noting that Romney was always among his group’s top three picks for a presidential nominee. “We thought we shouldn’t try and intrude on a convention that we’re happy with.”

Jenny Beth Martin, co-founder of the Tea Party Patriots, echoed Russo’s sentiment, characterizing the convention as “more style than substance.”

“The purpose is to legally nominate their candidate,” Martin told FoxNews.com. “Tea Party Patriots are far more concerned about what laws are going to be passed than what they’re doing at a party in Florida and Charlotte.”

“As long as our values are represented, we are making an effect. What we will be happy about is when bills are signed into law that repeal the president’s health care law, and when the budget is balanced and when we’re on the road to recovery,” she said. “The convention is just a very small step along the way.”

“WE BUILT THIS!” -Theme For The Republic National Convention Session – Megyn Kelly – Micheal Graham

August 21, 2012 in President Obama, Presidential Candidates, Presidential Candidates on the Issues, RomneyRyan, Socialist, Talk Radio by carlos

The theme and list of speakers are meant to directly contrast comments President Obama made in Roanoke, Virginia last month. Describing what he noted as the federal government’s role in helping the private sector, the president pointed to infrastructure and education.

“Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive,” the president said of business owners. “Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”

Opponents have seized on the “you didn’t build that” line in television ads, web videos, stump speeches and interviews, while the Obama campaign says the president meant business owners didn’t build roads and schools.

Despite that claim, the Romney camp has continued to bash the remarks as indicative of a president who is out of touch with job creators.  Romney’s surrogates will double down on the attack next Tuesday in Tampa.

FOX News’ Carl Cameron contributed to this report.

Dishonorable Disclosures

August 15, 2012 in America's Collapse, Freedom, Homeland Security, President Obama, Presidential Candidates, United State Military, United States Constitution, US Military, US Sovereignty by admin

Intelligence and Special Operations forces are furious and frustrated at how President Obama and those in positions of authority have exploited their service for political advantage. Countless leaks, interviews and decisions by the Obama Administration and other government officials have undermined the success of our Intelligence and Special Operations forces and put future missions and personnel at risk.

The unwarranted and dangerous public disclosure of Special Forces Operations is so serious — that for the first time ever — former operators have agreed to risk their reputations and go ‘on the record’ in a special documentary titled “Dishonorable Disclosures.” Its goal is to educate America about serious breaches of security and prevent them from ever happening again.

Use of military ranks, titles & photographs in uniform does not imply endorsement of the Dept of the Army or the Department of Defense. All individuals are no longer in active service with any federal agency or military service.

Paul Ryan – IF you have a small Business, You Did Build That!

August 11, 2012 in Election, Presidential Candidates, Presidential Candidates on the Issues, RomneyRyan by admin

Today Mitt Romney’s choice for Vice President of the United States, Paul Ryan, joined the Obama Administration’s failed policies and leadership with a stirring speech that examined and contrasted their failures with a Romney/Ryan strategy that will return America to her full potential and greatness.

Mitt Romney set the stage for Paul’s speech stating that, “We offer solutions that are “Bold, Specific & Achievable”

Highlights from Paul Ryan’s speech:

“IF you have a small Business, you Did Build that!”

“President Obama, and too many like him in Washington, have refused to make difficult decisions because they are more worried about their next election than they are about the next generation. We might have been able to get away with that before, but not now. We’re in a different, and dangerous, moment. We’re running out of time — and we can’t afford 4 more years of this.”

“But America is more than just a place…it’s an idea.  It’s the only country founded on an idea.  Our rights come from nature and God, not government.  We promise equal opportunity, not equal outcomes”

“Politicians from both parties have made empty promises which will soon become broken promises–with painful consequences–if we fail to act now.”

“We won’t duck the tough issues…we will lead!”

“We won’t blame others…we will take responsibility!“

“We won’t replace our founding principles…we will reapply them!”

“Bubba” Clinton to the Rescue

July 30, 2012 in Constitutional, Freedom, MA, President Obama, Presidential Candidates, Propaganda, Socialist by Admin1

Barack Hussein Obama and his calculating spouse have read the tea leaves and as downright dreadful as it will be, they have apparently made a back door deal with the Clintons to save his second term. The quid pro quo goes something like this. You, “Bubba”, like the snake charmer that you are, deceive our Democrat and Independent voters into electing me to a second term and Hillary gets her sought after nomination in 2016, without any Obama opposition.

It would appear that we are witnessing a double Machiavellian deal that has been struck between the Obamas and Clintons .The only potential losers being Freedom and Liberty loving Americans.  If we are charmed and Obama were to gain a second term, he would continue his onslaught against our Constitution and against our US Sovereignty, towards a One-World Government.  It is a theme that these elitists have been proclaiming for more than half a century. More recently we have, Bush 43, “Bubba”, Hillary, and Obama openly proclaiming the virtues of a world where there is no religious, political or economic conflict because they will all be regulated by government. My guess is that Bush 43 was just an unwitting accomplice .

I guess the question of the day is, will the propaganda and deception work? Have we as a nation become so intellectually dumbed down and so easily manipulated that the Obamas’ and Clintons’ are so self assured about the outcome that they are willing to bet their futures on it.

Is Obama in league with Satan?

Has an Obama gaffe finally revealed his innermost contempt for America, our Constitution and our traditional institutions? A contempt so deep and so villainous to American Principles and Values that he had to keep it concealed from public view. Hidden lest his villainous ideology be exposed and ruin his wicked plan to destroy America’s most cherished constitutional, social and economic institutions. Every once and a while those seers of our American culture would get a glimpse of his veiled intent and would alert our populous who either would not or could not believe that an American President could be capable of such infamous deeds. Then last Monday night while speaking at a fundraiser in Oakland last, Obama momentarily removed his superficial cloak as he told a mob of supporters that, “Just like we’ve tried their plan, we’ve tried our plan, and it worked. That’s the difference. That’s the choice in this election. That’s why I’m running for a second term.” He thereby, perhaps unconsciously, revealed his ongoing plan to subvert and destroy America.

This election is NOT about YOU!

YOU don’t matter – so long as you promise to reverse the damage caused by this Kenyan imposter.

BUT, you DO HAVE TO FIGHT  for the CHANCE.

Stop being a Mormon Choir Boy; get on your stump and start fighting!

From Sun TzuUnderstand yourself
– then understand the enemy.

We get it – you grew up a pampered rich kid – but then you made your own money by virtue of your own hard work. You and Ann raised a good family.
BUT, is there fire in your belly for this fight?

Your enemy – OUR enemy is a manically clever utterly ruthless anti-American / anti-colonialist would-be dictator. His intentions are clear – to weaken and humble America in an act of anti-colonial revenge.

He lives in an imaginary world – but a very sick world.

His ugly, snarling wife shares his hatreds - so there is no mellowing effect. She enjoys the perks of royalty so much that she personifies the nouveau riche.

Together they are surrounded, aided, and abetted by a cartel paid for by George Soros. You are up against a ruthless mega-billionaire!

GAWD-DAMNIT – START CAMPAIGNING!

The American People are just waiting to accept you as their champion, – if you can prove you’re up to the job. But this isn’t like rushing a fraternity at Harvard. We want to see if you have the meat and the mettle to fight for us.

Start giving the voters a clear picture of America under your leadership.

-  Talk about bringing jobs back from China and India.

-  Talk about a TAX REFORM PLAN for the next 20 years.

-  Talk about repealing ObamaCare andREPLACING it with a system

- which allows Americans to buy insurance across state lines,

- which will include MASSIVE TORT REFORM,

- which will FUND QUALIFIED young people – mostly veterans – to go to MEDICAL SCHOOL.

- Talk about fixing Medicare

- Talk about fixing Social Security

- Talk about FOREIGN POLICY to include Russia, China, the ‘Arab Spring’, Israel, and Iran.

Prove to us that you know something about our military.

- Talk about REAL energy independence – not Obama’s ‘phony green agenda’

Talk about appointing a REAL Attorney General and a REAL Secretary of Homeland Security.

- Talk about SEALING our Southern Border, and a guest-worker program with biometric ID cards.

- Talk about prosecuting those who allowed Fast & Furious to start, and to continue.

- Talk about ENDING VOTER FRAUD and WELFARE FRAUD, – and sending guilty officials to prison.

Talk about auditing the Federal Reserve!!!

- Talk about PROTECTING our INTERNET and our 2nd Amendment Rights.

- Talk about ending the litigious tyranny of fringe minority groups.

Talk about the short list you have for the Supreme Court.

Willard, if this isn’t in you – or if this just ‘isn’t you’ – then please go to Tampa and tell the assembled delegates that you’re ‘out of it’ – and encourage them to vote for Newt Gingrich on the First Ballot. Newt isn’t afraid of this fight.

In other words: Fight for us – or go the f**k home!

We can’t afford to lose this election because some panty waist wants to play by Marquess of Queensbury Rules!

Mitt Stiffs Conservatives Again

April 25, 2012 in Presidential Candidates, Presidential Candidates on the Issues, Restoring Courage, Tea Party by mike

  By  R ichard A. Viguerie

Just when the bruises from a tough primary were beginning to heal, and some conservatives were starting to give Mitt Romney a second look in the aftermath of yesterday’s five-state primary sweep, comes word the moderate former Massachusetts Governor has the same policy as President Obama does on federally subsidized student loan interest rates.

House Republicans have said the estimated $6 billion annual cost of extending low-interest rates for student loans isn’t affordable without offsetting cuts, but that they are still deciding whether to support a temporary extension. Obama has started pushing Congress for the extension and planned a three-state tour this week to warn students of the potential financial catastrophe they will face if Congress fails to act.

Apparently Romney’s strategy for the fall campaign will be, “if you can’t out bid Obama, at least join him.”

Romney’s announcement that he supports an extension of the cheap interest rate on federal student loans pulls the rug out from under conservatives in the House who have been trying with little success to reduce spending and balance the budget – even if it takes 30 years via the Ryan Plan.

We have a bit of sympathy for young people who were sold a bill of goods by an education industry that convinced them there is actually a job market for degrees in folklore and performance art and who are now stuck with student loans that run to six figures.

However, Romney’s attempt to out-Obama Obama on student loans is a perfect illustration of how Greece got where it is, and why we are headed in the same direction.

In Greece, until the meltdown, practically everybody got a subsidy or a paycheck for something from the government.  The politics were such that the trend was ever upward – once the subsidies started they could never be reduced or even slowed due to political pressure.

We have the same problem here in the U.S. and at some point soon some principled patriots will have to make the case to their fellow Americans that it has to stop.  Having offsetting cuts doesn’t end or slow the student loan subsidy, but at least it doesn’t allow it to increase our ruinous deficit and debt.

No doubt Romney and his establishment Republican advisors think of this as “moving to the center” for the fall election.  We call it stiffing the conservatives in Congress and pandering on the road to fiscal perdition – as well as a perfect illustration of why conservatives should remain deeply skeptical of the Romney candidacy.

Top Romney Aide: We’ll ‘Etch-A-Sketch’ His Conservatism Soon

March 22, 2012 in Presidential Candidates by mike

“There’s no problem about Mitt Romney taking conservative positions during the primary that may upset the liberal media;  come this fall, he can erase them and start all over again.

That’s the word from Eric Fehrnstrom, a senior campaign aide to Romney, who told CNN Wednesday that after his candidate’s big win in Illinois Tuesday he can still change course.”

Romneycare is the Basis for Obamacare’s Anti Catholic Legislative Regulations

February 8, 2012 in Constitutional, ObamaCare, Presidential Candidates, Romneycare by Admin1

Can the Obama Administration institute regulations that will prohibit the free exercise of Religious Freedom guaranteed under the 1st Amendment of our Constitution? Is the Obama Administration just following the lead of the Romney Administration’s implementation of Romneycare?

Romneycare Required Anti-Catholic

Regulations Like Obamacare’s

 Tuesday, 07 Feb 2012 12:24 PM
By Jim Meyers

Mitt Romney is vociferously attacking a provision in Obamacare requiring religious employers to cover birth control in employee health plans — but the healthcare bill he enacted as governor of Massachusetts also contained that requirement.

C.J. Doyle, executive director of the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts, told the Boston Globe that Romney’s criticism of President Obama is hypocritical because as governor he did not lift the state-level requirement of contraception coverage.

Romney adviser Norm Coleman predicts GOP president won’t repeal health law

January 24, 2012 in ObamaCare, Presidential Candidates by Admin1

By Julian Pecquet – The Hill
 01/24/12 10:51 AM ET

Mitt Romney adviser Norm Coleman, a former senator from Minnesota, predicted the GOP won’t repeal the Democrats’ healthcare reform law even if a Republican candidate defeats President Obama this November.

“You will not repeal the act in its entirety, but you will see major changes, particularly if there is a Republican president,” Coleman told BioCentury This Week television in an interview that aired on Sunday. “You can’t whole-cloth throw it out. But you can substantially change what’s been done.”

Coleman’s remarks are remarkable because every Republican candidate — including Romney — has vowed to make repealing the law a priority. Coleman is also the chairman of the American Action Network, which has urged the courts to strike down the law’s individual mandate and its Medicaid expansion.

Gingrich wins South Carolina primary, Fox News projects

January 21, 2012 in Presidential Candidates by carlos

Published January 21, 2012 | FoxNews.com

Newt Gingrich has won the South Carolina Republican primary, Fox News projects, further scrambling an already volatile presidential race which has produced three different winners in three states as the candidates head next to Florida.   Fox News projects that Mitt Romney will place second in the Palmetto State, where he was leading in the polls just one week ago. Rick Santorum will finish in third place, Fox News projects, while Ron Paul will finish last.

Gingrich’s victory marks a remarkable comeback for the former House speaker, propelled by his strong performance in two debates in South Carolina this week.

Romney’s aides had been downplaying expectations by late Saturday, acknowledging the momentum that had been going Gingrich’s way in recent days.   Exit polling confirmed his advantage among several groups of voters. Those who made up their minds late broke for Gingrich, while those who had decided early mostly backed Romney. Late deciders outnumbered early deciders 53-46 percent.

Gingrich also had the advantage among voters who viewed the debates as important. And Gingrich was leading among those who say it’s important that a candidate shares their religious beliefs. Romney, a Mormon, led among those who care less about a candidate’s religious affiliation.   South Carolina has a reputation as a tie-breaker in the Republican primaries, often setting the winner on a relatively smooth course to the nomination. But Saturday’s contest only complicate things. With Gingrich’s victory, there have been three distinct winners in the first three contests.

Primary day Saturday was marked by tough rhetoric on both sides, previewing the race ahead.   In the morning, Gingrich mocked Romney after the former Massachusetts governor came and went at a campaign stop where both candidates were expected to meet.   “Where’s Mitt?” Gingrich said mockingly, as he arrived at a Greenville diner just minutes after Romney’s bus rolled out.   In a coincidence of scheduling, both Romney and Gingrich had booked events at Tommy’s Ham House shortly before 11 a.m.

The campaigns only realized the issue a day earlier, though insisted they would not change their schedules. However, Romney showed up 45 minutes early. When Gingrich arrived, he ribbed his rival.   “I thought he was going to stay and maybe we’d have a little debate here this morning,” Gingrich said.   Gingrich sounded increasingly confident about his chances in the South Carolina contest as he cast himself as the “genuine conservative” to go up against President Obama.   Not to be outdone, Romney’s campaign later put out a statement celebrating the “15th anniversary” of the House decision to reprimand Gingrich for ethics violations, during his days as speaker.

Romney suggested Saturday morning in Greenville that he’s girding for a drawn-out election, while sounding optimistic about his odds in the long run.   “We’re going to work tirelessly to make sure we win this thing, not just (in South Carolina). We’d like to win here, of course, but we have a long way to go,” he said.   On the final day, Gingrich and Romney sparred over each other’s call to release detailed personal records.   Gingrich on Saturday rejected calls by Romney for him to release extensive information about the ethics investigation while he was House speaker. Gingrich dismissed the demand as a ploy to “divert” from the fact Romney has not committed to releasing his tax returns before April.

Romney’s fortunes have taken a sharp turn over the past week. He initially headed into South Carolina with a win in Iowa and New Hampshire under his belt.   Then the Iowa GOP announced that Santorum, and not Romney, had actually won the Iowa caucuses — party officials declared Santorum the winner late Friday night after giving a qualified announcement earlier in the week. Rick Perry also dropped out on Thursday, endorsing Gingrich.   And while Gingrich has deflected questions about claims made by his second wife, Romney has struggled to explain why he won’t release his tax returns in the near future.   Santorum, on Fox News, disputed Gingrich’s description of himself as a “Reagan conservative.”

He criticized Gingrich for his past support of an individual mandate — the requirement to buy health insurance that is at the heart of the federal health care overhaul — and of the financial industry bailout. Santorum argued that neither Romney nor Gingrich is what the GOP needs in a nominee.   “Mitt Romney is a moderate, someone who is timid in his tax plan, timid in his approach to cleaning up Washington and reducing the budget deficit,” he said. “And Newt Gingrich is, you know, unpredictable.”   “We don’t need either of those things,” Santorum said. He added, in reference to his trademark attire, “We need … the guy with the sweater vest that everybody trusts.”

Santorum Wins Iowa

Santorum Wins Iowa

But the full count might never be complete.
01/19/2012

People are always wondering why Iowa should have such a prominent role in the primaries, given its small size, unrepresentative demographics, and other factors.  Here’s a little more ammunition for those who think it should no longer hold its outsized position in presidential politics: it turns out Rick Santorum won the Iowa caucuses after all.  They think.  The final count may never be complete.

The Des Moines Register calls this “a tie for the ages.”  I can think of some other, more colorful phrases to describe it.

There are too many holes in the certified totals from the Iowa caucuses to know for certain who won, but Rick Santorum wound up with a 34-vote advantage.

Perry to drop out of Republican presidential race, endorse Gingrich

January 19, 2012 in Presidential Candidates by carlos

Rick Perry will drop out of the presidential race on Thursday and endorse Newt Gingrich, Fox News confirms, a decision that comes just two days before the South Carolina Republican primary.   The decision comes after the Texas governor, who once led the field of GOP hopefuls, endured disappointing finishes in the leadoff Iowa and New Hampshire contests. While he is polling only in single digits in South Carolina, his decision to withdraw could end up giving a boost to one of his opponents should his supporters gravitate toward a particular candidate.   Perry was seen as competing for social conservative supporters alongside Rick Santorum and Gingrich, though the latter two candidates were faring much better in the polls.   Perry is the second candidate this week to withdraw from the race. Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman earlier dropped out following a distant third finish in the New Hampshire primary. He endorsed frontrunner Mitt Romney for the nomination.   Fox News’ Carl Cameron contributed to this report.

Huntsman to withdraw from GOP presidential race, tipped to endorse Romney

January 16, 2012 in Presidential Candidates, Presidential Candidates on the Issues by carlos

Check out Mass Tea Party On FaceBook

CHARLESTON, S.C. (NEWSCORE) – Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman will bow out of the Republican presidential race, FOX News confirmed Sunday night.   Huntsman told advisers of his decision Sunday — the same day that his campaign was boosted by the endorsement of South Carolina’s largest newspaper, The State, ahead of the Jan. 21 primary.   He will formally withdraw and endorse the campaign frontrunner, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, at 11:00am Monday at the Myrtle Beach Conventions Center, S.C.   Romney’s senior campaign staffers, who were taken by surprise by Huntsman’s move, were working to ensure their candidate — like Huntsman, a Mormon — would attend the announcement.   “He’s going to endorse Gov. Romney tomorrow and urge the party to come together,” a source told The Wall Street Journal.   The decision came after several days of discussion with family, friends and campaign advisers, FOX News reported.   Huntsman’s campaign has flagged in 2012, with less than one percent of the vote in Iowa after he chose not to compete in the state’s caucuses and a third place finish with 17 percent in New Hampshire, where he had focused his efforts.   The most recent poll in South Carolina ahead of the state’s primary next weekend had Huntsman — until recently the US ambassador to China — in sixth place with just five percent of support.   His withdrawal is the fifth of the GOP race, following those of businessman Herman Cain, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, former New Mexico Gov. Gary Johnson and Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann.
