A BostonThe deadly bombing at the Boston Marathon that killed at least two and injured more than 80 is believed to be an act of terrorism, senior White House officials told Fox News.

Two explosions tore through the finish line of the world-famous race just before 3 p.m., going off simultaneously as throngs of onlookers watched runners complete the 26.2-mile trek. The timing of the blasts immediately sparked suspicions of a deliberate act.

“When multiple devices go off, that’s an act of terrorism,” a senior administration official told Fox News, just moments after President Obama delivered a statement to the nation and did not use the word “terror.”

The official stressed that with details still coming in, it is unclear whether a foreign entity like Al Qaeda was behind it or whether it was home-grown terrorism. As a result, this official said the administration did not want the president to get out too far ahead and directly call it “terror.”

murderCAIRO –  Al-Qaeda’s branch in Iraq said it  has merged with Syria’s extremist Jabhat al-Nusra, a move that shows the rising  confidence of radicals within the Syrian rebel movement and is likely to trigger  renewed fears among its international backers.

A website linked to Jabhat Al-Nusra confirmed on Tuesday the merger with the  Islamic State of Iraq, whose leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi first made the  announcement in a 21-minute audio posted on militant websites late Monday.

Jabhat Al-Nusra has taken an ever-bigger role in Syria’s conflict over the  last year, fighting in key battles and staging several large suicide bombings.  The U.S. has designated it a terrorist organization.

The Syrian group has made little secret of its ideological ties to the global  jihadist movement and its links across the Iraqi border but until now has not  officially declared itself to be part of Al Qaeda.

Al-Baghdadi said that his group — the Islamic State of Iraq — and Syria’s  Jabhat al-Nusra will now be known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Sham. Sham is  a name for Syria and the surrounding region.

“It is time to announce to the Levantine (Syrian) people and the whole world  that Jabhat al-Nusra is merely an extension and part of the Islamic State of  Iraq,” he said.

He said that the Iraqi group was providing half of its budget to the conflict  in Syria. Al-Baghdadi said that the Syrian group would have no separate leader  but instead be led by the “people of Syria themselves” — implying that he would  be in charge in both countries.

For such a high-profile Syrian rebel group to formally join Al Qaeda is  likely to spark concerns among backers of the opposition that are in the global  terror network’s crosshairs, including both Western countries and Gulf Arab  states.

It may increase resentment of Jabhat al-Nusra among other rebel groups.  Rebels have until now respected Nusra fighters for their prowess on the  battlefield but a merger with Al Qaeda will complicate any effort to send them  arms from abroad.

A website linked with Jabhat al-Nusra known as al-Muhajir al-Islami — the  Islamic emigrant — confirmed the merger.

The authenticity of neither message could be independently confirmed, but  statements posted on major militant websites are rarely disputed by militant  groups afterward.

Jabhat al-Nusra emerged as an offshoot of Iraq’s Al Qaeda branch in mid-2012  as one of a patchwork of disparate rebel groups in Syria.

One of the most dramatic attacks by the groups came on March 4, when 48  Syrian soldiers were killed in a well-coordinated ambush after seeking refuge  across the border in Iraq following clashes with rebels in their home country.  The attack occurred in Iraq’s restive western province of Anbar, where Al Qaeda  is known to be active.

A top Iraqi intelligence official told The Associated Press in Baghdad that  they have always known that “Al Qaeda in Iraq is directing Jabhat al-Nusra.”

He said they announced their unity because of “political, logistical and  geographical circumstance.” The official said Iraqi authorities will take  “strict security measures to strike them.”

Iraqi officials say the jihadi groups are sharing three military training  compounds, logistics, intelligence and weapons as they grow in strength around  the Syria-Iraq border, particularly in a sprawling region called al-Jazeera,  which they are trying to turn into a border sanctuary they can both exploit. It  could serve as a base of operations to strike either side of the border.

Baghdad officials said last week they have requested U.S. drone strikes  against the fighters in Iraqi territory. A U.S. official confirmed that elements  within the Iraqi government had inquired about drone strikes. But the official  said the U.S. was waiting to respond until the top level of Iraqi leadership  makes a formal request, which has not happened yet.

All officials spoke anonymously as they were not authorized to give official  statements to the media

Eastern Syria and western Iraq have a predominantly Sunni Muslim population  like most of the rebels fighting President Bashar Assad, who belongs to the  minority Alawite Sect, an offshoot of Shiite Islam. The Baghdad government is  dominated by Shiites, who are majority in Iraq.

The announcement came hours after a suicide car bomber struck Monday in the  financial heart of Syria’s capital, killing at least 15 people, damaging the  nearby central bank.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attack but such operations were  claimed by Jabhat al-Nusra in the past.

Activists reported violence in different parts of Syria on Tuesday.

The Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported air raids on  suburbs of the capital Damascus as well as the northern province of Raqqa and  Idlib.

Syria’s crisis, which began in March 2011 with protests calling for Assad’s  ouster, then evolved into a civil war. The U.N. says more than 70,000 have been  killed in the conflict.

Christian in Egypt: ‘They Try to Kill Us’

Egyptian Maher El-Gowhary and his 15 year old daughter Dina never pray twice at the same church, never stay longer than a month in any one apartment.  They are constantly under threat, always on the run because they converted to Christianity in a largely Muslim country.

Maher and Dina nervously agreed to meet us at a Church in Cairo. The priest at the Church said he feared problems from the Egyptian authorities and while he agreed to have us watch his Sunday mass, the Priest  declined to speak to us about what is happening in Egypt and to the El-Gowhary’s.

Egypt’s Coptic Christians must be protected from sectarian violence

A rise in tensions between religious communities in the town of Wasta, about one hundred kilometres south of Cairo, in recent weeks highlights the failure of the Egyptian authorities to protect Egypt’s Coptic Christians, the largest religious minority in the country.

Tensions were sparked in February when a local Muslim young woman was reported “missing” and members of her family and local Salafis – Sunni Muslims who advocate a return to what they consider to be Islam’s fundamental principles as practiced by the first Muslims – blamed the Mar-Girgis Church, claiming they had influenced the woman to convert to Christianity – an allegation the Church denies.

People in the town went out on the streets calling for the return of the woman or the departure of the Coptic Christian community from Wasta.

In some of the protests, shouts of “let the Christian die from fear”, “today your sister, tomorrow your wife” and “she returns or they (Coptic Christians) leave” were heard.

Local residents told Amnesty International that leaflets are being distributed at the market, the public transport rank, and outside stores owned by Christians highlighting Muslims’ religious duty to stand-up against the woman’s alleged disappearance.

Discrimination and violence
According to local residents, violence escalated further between 19 and 25 March, when groups of men believed to be Salafis and their supporters forced all Christian stores and other businesses to close. They then patrolled the area to ensure they stayed shut and became violent with anyone who resisted.

A restaurant owner told Amnesty International that on 20 March, at around 6pm, some 15 men carrying sticks entered his restaurant whilst clients were inside, ordering its closure. Larger groups of men waited outside, while others entered other Christian businesses on the street also ordering they shut.

Local residents said security forces failed to intervene and that, in most cases, police stations refused to register complaints. One resident told Amnesty International that the head of the Security Directorate and the head of the General Security Investigations told him that filing complaints would only serve to ignite tensions further, advising him to pursue the reconciliation route.

As days progressed, the situation deteriorated.

On 25 March, after evening prayers, a large group of Muslim men walked to the Mar-Girgis Church and threw stones and Molotov cocktails inside the building. Some of the church employees who were there at the time managed to contain the fire.

Members of the security forces arrived at the scene shortly after and managed to halt the violence.

That night, the car of a local priest Father Shenouda Sabry was set on fire while parked outside his home. Other cars parked near-by were left untouched.

However, according to information available, no arrests have been made and no investigation established to find out who was responsible.

“Coptic Christians across Egypt face discrimination in law and practice and have been victims of regular sectarian attacks while authorities systematically look the other way,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui, Middle East and North Africa Deputy Director at Amnesty International.

Later on 25 March, Coptic Christian and Muslim elders held a “reconciliation meeting”.

It was agreed that businesses run by Coptic Christians could reopen save Fridays.

However, Coptic Christians in Wasta were also warned that if the “missing” woman did not return by 24 April, they will face dire consequences.

A pattern of discrimination
Human rights organizations including Amnesty International have, over time, documented a pattern of discrimination against Coptic Christians in Egypt.

Under Hosni Mubarak, at least 15 major attacks on Copts were documented and the situation didn’t improve under the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) which ruled the country between the downfall of Hosni Mubarak and the election of President Mohamed Morsi.

In 2013, Coptic Christian activists reported at least four attacks on Churches or affiliated buildings in addition to Wasta, taking place in the Governorates of Aswan, Beni Suef, Cairo, and Fayoum.

The authorities’ response to the violence has been poor, at best.

They have often favoured “reconciliation” over the prosecution of offenders as a way to address sectarian violence.

In addition, both Hosni Mubarak and the SCAF failed to end discriminatory practices preventing Copts from building or restoring houses of worship.

Churches have been closed or destroyed because the authorities alleged that the communities did not have the correct permissions to build or renovate. Presidential Decree 291/2005 makes repair or expansion of Christian churches subject to a permit from the regional governor. In some cases, this has reportedly been used by the local authorities to delay or impede the construction or repair of churches.

“It is high time for the authorities to take sectarian violence and threats seriously. The Egyptian authorities are responsible for ensuring the protection of people, their homes and livelihoods. Time and time again, President Morsi claimed to be President of all Egyptians. Now, he needs to take action to ensure that sectarian violence is prevented and when it occurs it is properly investigated, and those responsible face justice,” said Hassiba Hadj Sahraoui.

“By not prosecuting those responsible for sectarian violence, the Egyptian authorities are signalling Coptic Christians can be attacked with impunity”.

Egypt is a state party to a number of treaties which prohibit any forms of discrimination based on the grounds of religion including the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights.

Benghazi Gate – Clinton To Testify! – Where Are The State Department Employees Survivors?

BenghaziMore than four months after the deadly attack on the U.S. diplomatic compound  in eastern Libya, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will deliver long-awaited  testimony on the historic security failure.

The secretary, after missing prior sessions before Congress due to illness,  is set to take lawmakers’ questions Wednesday before a House and Senate  committee. As Clinton prepares to leave the department after a busy four years,  the hearing is a chance to address what is arguably the biggest controversy of  her tenure.

“There’s no question there hasn’t been the accountability within the  department,” Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn., the incoming top Republican on the Senate  Foreign Relations Committee, told Fox News. “I think this is going to be the  beginning, I hope … of a top-to-bottom review.”

Congress has already held multiple hearings to date, with lower-level  officials testifying, on the Benghazi attack. The administration has gradually  backed off its position that the attack was spontaneous — an assertion that  drew the ire of congressional lawmakers who said it was clearly planned. An  official State Department-sanctioned report has resulted in several officials  leaving their current posts, after finding “systemic failures” left the Benghazi  compound inadequately protected.

The hearing Wednesday, though, is a forum for lawmakers to question Clinton  on what she might have known about requests for security at the Benghazi post –  and what she thinks should be done to improve security going forward, as she  prepares to leave the department. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., has been nominated  to replace her.

State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said Tuesday “there was no  question” that Clinton “considered it her responsibility to learn the lessons  from this, and to take the department forward in implementing whatever lessons  were learned.”

There are also questions about how the Obama administration responded to the  crisis during the Sept. 11, 2012 attack. Fox News has learned from senior U.S.  defense officials that a FAST team of Marines out of Spain was asked by State  Department officials to change out of their Marine uniforms after being asked to  leave for Libya to help — this required them to deplane and delayed them by  about 90 minutes, according to Pentagon officials.

Then there is the decision by Clinton and State Department Undersecretary of  Management Patrick Kennedy not to mobilize the Counterterrorism Security Group,  which is composed of experts on terrorism from across government agencies and  makes recommendations to the deputies who assist the president’s Cabinet in  formulating a response to crises involving terrorism.

Further, there are questions about the perceived delays CIA officials –  stationed in Benghazi — encountered that night and their frustration that air  support was not sent from nearby Sigonella air base. In recent weeks, Fox News  has learned that the rescue unit that left Tripoli was told that “fast fliers”  — or air support — would be above when they landed in Benghazi. They  weren’t.

Still, the department’s review board concluded: “The Board members believe  every possible effort was made to rescue and recover Ambassador Chris Stevens  and Sean Smith. The interagency response was timely and appropriate, but there  simply was not enough time for armed U.S. military assets to have made a  difference.”

Lawmakers have waited months to ask Clinton direct questions about the  Benghazi attack, in which U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other  Americans were killed. That attack, though, may just be the starting point for  Wednesday’s hearings amid mounting questions about the hostage crisis in Algeria  and the French-led military campaign in neighboring Mali.

Corker told Fox News “there’s going to be a lot of questions about just the  overall policies of this administration as it relates to” Al Qaeda’s affiliate  in North Africa.

An Al Qaeda-tied operative has claimed responsibility for the attack at a gas  plant in Algeria that left 37 hostages dead, including three  Americans.

Corker suggested the developments challenge an administration that was  “spiking the ball on Al Qaeda” last year as the U.S. chipped away at the group’s  leadership in Pakistan and Afghanistan, and took out Usama bin Laden the year  before that.

“That’s where the core of Al Qaeda (is), but there are all these nodes that  are scattered through Africa now that obviously are a threat to Western  civilization, and it’s as if they’ve taken their eye off the ball,” Corker  said.

Clinton was preparing to testify in December, but fell ill and was unable to  address Congress.

The State Department has thus far been sparing in its explanation of the  separate Algeria attack.

Nuland said last week that Clinton spoke with the Algerian Prime Minister and  “talked about the challenge that Algeria has had historically with  terrorism.”

Clinton later said “it is absolutely essential that we broaden and deepen our  counterterrorism cooperation going forward without Algeria and all countries of  the region.”

She said she made clear to the prime minister that “we stand ready to further  enhance the counterterrorism support that we already provide.”

Outgoing Defense Secretary Leon Panetta also had tough words, saying those  who try to attack Americans “will have no place to hide.”

On the House Foreign Affairs Committee, an aide to Rep. Michael McCaul,  R-Texas, also said it’s likely the Algeria hostage standoff will come up  Wednesday.

Clinton plans to testify on the Senate side at 9 a.m. ET Wednesday, and at 2  p.m. on the House side.

Former CIA Director David Petraeus has agreed to testify about the Libya terror attack before the House and Senate intelligence committees, Fox News has learned.   Petraeus had originally been scheduled to testify this Thursday on the burgeoning controversy over the deadly Sept. 11 attack. That appearance was scuttled, though, after the director abruptly resigned over an extramarital affair.

The resignation has since expanded into a sprawling scandal that now includes allegations that Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, exchanged “inappropriate” and sexually charged emails with Jill Kelley, a Florida socialite linked to the Petraeus case. The rapid developments in the case have all but obscured what until last week was an intense debate on Capitol Hill and beyond over the Benghazi terror attack.   After Petraeus’ resignation, lawmakers complained that the scandal was no reason they shouldn’t hear from the man at the helm of the CIA when CIA operatives came under attack alongside State Department employees in Benghazi last month.   The logistics of Petraeus’ appearance are still being worked out. But a source close to Petraeus said the former four-star general has contacted the CIA, as well as committees in both the House and Senate, to offer his testimony as the former CIA director.   Fox News has learned he is expected to speak off-site to the Senate Intelligence Committee on Friday about his Libya report. The House side is still being worked out.   Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans were killed in the Sept. 11 attack, which the administration initially blamed on a “spontaneous” mob reacting to protests over an anti-Islam film. Officials later labeled the attack terrorism.   While Petraeus prepares to give his side, lawmakers have begun to openly question when Petraeus first knew about the investigation that uncovered his affair — and whether it impacted his statements to Congress on Sept. 14 about the Libya terror attack.   Petraeus briefed lawmakers that day that the attack was akin to a flash mob, and some top lawmakers noted to Fox News he seemed “wedded” to the administration’s narrative that it was a demonstration spun out of control. The briefing appeared to conflict with one from the FBI and National Counterterrorism Center a day earlier in which officials said the intelligence supported an Al Qaeda or Al Qaeda-affiliated attack.   Rep. Peter King, R-N.Y., told Fox News he now questions whether Petraeus’ statements — which were in conflict with both the FBI briefing and available raw intelligence — were in any way impacted by the knowledge the FBI was investigating his affair with Broadwell.   King questioned whether the investigation “consciously or subconsciously” affected his statements to Congress.   Fox News’ Catherine Herridge contributed to this report.

Across 166 pages of internal State Department documents — released Friday by a pair of Republican congressmen pressing the Obama administration for more answers on the Benghazi terrorist attack — slain U.S. Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens and the security officers assigned to protect him repeatedly sounded alarms to their superiors in Washington about the intensifying lawlessness and violence in Eastern Libya, where Stevens ultimately died.

On Sept. 11 — the day Stevens and three other Americans were killed — the ambassador signed a three-page cable, labeled “sensitive,” in which he noted “growing problems with security” in Benghazi and “growing frustration” on the part of local residents with Libyan police and security forces. These forces the ambassador characterized as “too weak to keep the country secure.”

In the document, Stevens also cited a meeting he had held two days earlier with local militia commanders. These men boasted to Stevens of exercising “control” over the Libyan Armed Forces, and threatened that if the U.S.-backed candidate for prime minister were to prevail in Libya’s internal political jockeying, “they would not continue to guarantee security in Benghazi.”

Mitt Romney, fresh off what by most accounts was his victory Wednesday night in the first debate with President Obama, said in a Fox News interview that the deadly consulate attack in Libya was a “tragic failure” of security and that the Obama admiration’s explanations have been “misleading.”


The comments on Libya, made in an interview Thursday night with Fox News’ Sean Hannity, served to underscore Romney’s foreign policy attack on Obama, after a first debate that focused solely on domestic policy.

Obama claimed Thursday on the campaign trail that the Romney of the debate had tried to “dance around his positions” from the trail. Romney countered, “It’s the same message I’ve been saying across America.”


“Obviously the president wasn’t happy with the response to our debate last night,” he said.

As for Libya, Republicans have been vocal in questioning the Obama administration’s response to the attack last month that killed U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans. Sources have described the Sept. 11 attack as a coordinated assault by extremists that appear to have ties to Al Qaeda, but an investigation still is under way.

Folks,

The Obama Administration is simultaneously creating a Middle East Muslim Caliphate, distancing our support of Israel while weakening our Military, our Economy and attacking our freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.

If we don’t Oust Obama in November, WWIII will erupt in the Middle East, we will be defenceless (Obama signed treaty that reduces our nuclear arsenal from 5000 to 1500 missiles and has asked the military to consider going down to 292) and after we plunge over the  fiscal cliff, China  will own our debt and our destiny!

Glenn Beck is one of  our “Watchman on he Wall”.  He warned us that The Obama Middle East Policy was leading to a Caliphate whose sole aim would be to march on Israel and to make Jerusalem their Capital. Last  May, during a rally for Muslim Brotherhood presidential candidate Mohammad Mursi, Egyptian Cleric Safwat Higazi spoke before an adoring crowd of thousands, proclaiming, “We can see how the dream of the Islamic caliphate is being realized, God willing, by Dr. Mohamed Mursi.” Cleric Safwat Higazi further stated that, “The capital of the United States of the Arabs will be Jerusalem.” 

It should now be clear to any neutral observer that  the Obama Administration has via its “Arab Spring” and “American Weakness” foreign policy initiatives,  have deliberately created  a Muslim Caliphate.

On February 11th 2011, Glenn Beck talking about the Tunisian Revolution stated:

And now we see beginning of  the Obama Administration’s and the   Caliphate’s plan to obliterate Israel.  Our Egyptian Embassy , upon orders from the president “apologizes in advance”  for a motion picture uncomplimentary to Allah.  An apology that comes before the attacks on our Egyptian and Libyan Embassies.  After mobs assemble outside our Libyan embassy, our Ambassador is taken to a safe house under the protection of Libya. Our good friends in the Libyan Government  then aid the Muslim Brotherhood  by providing the location of our Ambassador’s “Safe House”, thereby enabling his murder along with other embassy personnel l.  Obama waits before announcing the deaths of our Embassy personnel  even while it is making headlines in Europe.   When he finally speaks, he soft peddles the entire atrocity and can’t wait to get on Air Force One, so he is not too late for his Fundraiser.

Congresswoman Michele Bachmann joined The Glenn Beck Radio Program on GBTV (soon to be known as TheBlaze) this morning to discuss the growing influence of the Muslim Brotherhood in Washington, DC and the attacks on her in the wake of her calls for an investigation. GLENN: There are a few people in Washington D.C. that I trust and tell the truth. There are a few people that call me every time they turn on a water faucet from Washington D.C. and they say, “I just want you to know I’m holding a press conference today because I turned on a water faucet.” You’re like, oh. And after a while, I don’t take those people’s phone calls and after a while I stop reading their e‑mails. And there are a few people that are in it for the wrong reasons. And then there are a few people ‑‑ Jim DeMint is one of them, Michele Bachmann is one of them, Mike Lee is one of them ‑‑ that do it for the right reasons and are clean. I mean, we were talking about this with Jim DeMint the other day. Look what Jim DeMint has done. Jim DeMint just stopped the Law of the Sea Treaty. I mean, that’s ‑‑ that’s a pretty amazing thing to do. You can’t take Jim DeMint out because he’s clean. Does he make mistakes from time to time? Sure. Everybody does. But look at what this guy has done. Michele Bachmann is the same way. She’s a good, decent person. May not agree with her all the time, but she’s a good, decent woman. And she is standing and she’s on the intelligence committee. Rarely do I get calls from Michele Bachmann. But when I do, they’re always important. And she has called me a few times and lately it’s been about the Muslim Brotherhood because I’ve been ‑‑ I’ve been talking to people in Washington D.C. and saying, “Hey, what’s the deal with the Muslim Brotherhood thing? Are we looking into this?” Michele called me this morning and she said, “Glenn, there are decent people up on the Hill that are trying to expose the Muslim Brotherhood and it is spreading. This disease is spreading so rapidly, it is breathtaking.” This goes to a documentary that we did about, what, four months ago, three months ago where we exposed what this president is doing with the Muslim Brotherhood and how it is infiltrating all levels. And we’re at a place now that if we don’t stop it, we’re approaching a point of no return. And they are purging everything from our military, from our FBI. So we’re not even teaching what the Muslim Brotherhood stands for. We’re not teaching what radical Islam even is. So how are you ever going to find it? How are you ever going to recognize it? It’s out of control.

The inspectors general were asked a few questions by a few members of congress. Michele Bachmann is here to talk about it and this is important. I beg you to listen because the elephant media and Drudge, Fox, have come out on the wrong side on this issue. They are following John McCain’s lead. It’s the wrong lead. And if you’re not there to back these people up, they’re going to be eaten by CAIR and the Muslim Brotherhood.

Michele Bachmann, welcome to the program.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: Glenn, thank you so much. What an important topic, and I have to say that you and the people at The Blaze have been leading the pack on this. And thank you for the wonderful documentary that you’ve done because the influence today of the Muslim Brotherhood at the highest levels, from the White House, to the Pentagon, to the FBI, even to our United States military truly is breathless and people have to know about it.

GLENN: Okay. So tell me what happened. You and who else wrote a letter to the inspectors general’s office and said, “There are some questions here that need to be addressed.”

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: That’s right. It was three members of the intelligence committee: Myself, Lynn Westmoreland from Georgia, Tom Rooney from Florida and two members of the judiciary committee, Trent Franks of Arizona and Louie Gohmert of Texas all signed onto a letter. We asked numerous questions of the federal government because a letter was sent ‑‑ well, let me just back up. After the Fort Hood tragedy, a report was issued that said the real problem in our government is that we are not teaching FBI agents or our military to recognize radical Islam. So that’s what we need to do. We need to teach about it.

Well, in response to that, 50 ‑‑ over 50 Muslim organizations wrote a letter requesting that the White House start a task force to stop that from happening. Five days after the White House got this letter, this October 19th letter ‑‑ and people can see it on my website, or maybe you have it on The Blaze ‑‑ five days after the White House got this letter from the 50 Muslim groups, they started the purge of the federal government. Let me tell you, the federal government doesn’t do anything in five days. But they started the purge of the FBI. So now the FBI, who are supposed to be trained in radical Islam, elements have been purged off their training materials so they are no longer being taught about what radical Islam is in order to be able to truly identify it ahead of time. This is serious. This is also happening throughout our United States military, Department of Justice, and Homeland Security. And the word “purge” isn’t my word. That’s the word used by the 50 Muslim organizations. They demanded that the president purge the training materials and the trainers. And so already people have been fired who formerly were teaching what radical Islam is. They’ve been fired or they’ve been reassigned. And they ask that the library be purged. Americans don’t purge libraries, but they demanded that the FBI’s library be purged. All of this was happening and so we wrote a letter to the inspectors general asking the question: Don’t you think you should look into the influence of the Muslim Brotherhood and what it is they’re seeking to do.

GLENN: Okay. So you write this, which is your job.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: That’s our duty.

GLENN: Your duty to protect and defend the United States from all enemies, foreign and domestic.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: That’s right.

GLENN: There is no question in any sane person’s mind that the Muslim Brotherhood ‑‑ I mean, look at this ‑‑ look at this guy who ran and won the presidency in Egypt. He says, “Oh, I’m a moderate. I’m a moderate.” As soon as he wins, it’s Sharia law, we’re going down, you know, death for Allah is our highest goal. It’s the all the same crap. So ‑‑

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: And they call for Jerusalem to become Egypt’s capital, not Israel’s capital. They call for the demise of Israel and the demise of the United States. They believe in civilization, jihad, which is to come into the United States and subvert the United States from within. I know it sounds like radical stuff, but all you have to do is look ‑‑ right, just look at the Muslim Brotherhood and who they say they are.

GLENN: Okay. So when you wrote this letter, then Keith Ellison comes out. And Keith Ellison is ‑‑ he has a record of being the Mafia hitman.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: Well, he has a long record of being associated with CAIR and with the Muslim Brotherhood. CAIR is an unindicted co‑conspirator, as stated in the large terrorist financing case that we’ve had in the United States of America and so he came out and essentially wanted to shut down the inspectors general from even looking into any of the questions that we were asking. So he wanted to shut it down. In response I wrote another letter back to Keith Ellison, a 16‑page letter which I would encourage all of your listeners to go and read this letter. It’s what I call a bulletproof letter. I have 59 footnotes with one example after another of the penetration of the Muslim Brotherhood into the federal government. One of the most recent is so outrageous, it’s hard to believe. Two weeks ago the State Department broke its own law, like I said, and let a foreign terrorist come into the United States, into the White House, meet with the National Security Council ‑‑

GLENN: Listen to this.

PRESIDENT OBAMA: ‑‑ and demand the release of the blind Sheik. This is absolutely outrageous.

GLENN: There’s more to this story that I think is even more outrageous. Not only did they break their own laws, give this guy a special waiver, bring him into the White House. This is a guy who is a known ‑‑ part of a known terrorist organization. He then campaigns to have the blind sheikh released, but who pays for his airline ticket?

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: We do. The taxpayers. What I want to know is did we upgrade him to first class. I mean, this is ‑‑ this is outrageous what has happened. And so then now what’s happened is the attack machine has been turned on myself and the other members of congress who have been asking the questions, that somehow we’re the Muslim haters, we’re the witch‑hunters, we’re the new Joe McCarthyites because we’re asking these questions. All the while two weeks ago the Obama administration breaks federal law to bring someone that we list on the State Department as a terrorist organization, a member of that terrorist organization, we bring him into the White House? You don’t get any higher when it comes to intelligence secrets, you don’t get any higher than the National Security Council. He sits down with the National Security Council in our White House and has the guts to demand that we release one of the worst, most violent terrorists that we have behind bars. He wants us to let him out of prison, to let him go free, the guy who was the mastermind of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the blind sheikh.

GLENN: So let’s ‑‑

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: And you don’t hear a peep about this.

GLENN: No, of course not. Let me ‑‑ let me take you here because one of the more controversial things is you say Anthony Weiner’s wife will is ‑‑ has connections to the Muslim Brotherhood. Now, this is important because she works for Hillary Clinton.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: She is the chief aid for the ‑‑ to the Secretary of State, and we quoted from a document, and this has been well reported all across Arab media, that her father ‑‑ her late father who’s now deceased was a part of the Muslim Brotherhood. Her brother was a part of the Muslim Brotherhood, and her mother was a part of what’s called the Muslim Sisterhood. It would be, we have requirements to get a high level security clearance. One thing that the government looks at are your associations, and in particular your family associations. And this applies to everyone. It would be the same that is true with me. If my family members were associated with Hamas, a terrorist organization, that alone could be sufficient to disqualify me from getting a security clearance. So all we did is ask, did the federal government look into her family associations before she got a high level security clearance.

GLENN: And it’s not an unreasonable thing to ask seeing that this president and this administration has ‑‑ didn’t know ‑‑ apparently didn’t know that Van Jones was the founding ‑‑ one of the founding members of a radical revolutionary, anti‑American, Communist organization, and he’s in the White House.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: That’s right. That’s right, and it’s not ‑‑

GLENN: So something is ‑‑ somebody’s dropping the ball some place, or somebody knows.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: That’s right. And somebody has been dropping the ball since the beginning of the Obama administration. And this isn’t intent to be partisan or out to get the president. I mean, quite honestly on the intelligence committee I’m happy to report we are the most bipartisan committee I’ve ever been a part of, and with all of these unprecedented leaks that have been coming out from our federal government, all of which, by the way, undermine Israel, and Israel’s ability to defend herself against a nuclear Iran, we are with one voice, Democrat and Republican, outraged by these leaks that are coming out of the administration. Never before in the history of the country have we seen this level of leaks coming out, but at the same time there’s also a parallel track of influence from the Muslim Brotherhood in the highest levels of the federal government, and we think that we need to get answers to these questions. And that’s the purpose of our letters. We’re asking that the inspectors general answer these questions, and Keith Ellison is trying to shut this, these questions down from getting addressed.

GLENN: I’m really tight on time and I want to hit a couple of other things. Stu’s got ‑‑ Stu’s been going over all of this information, and he’s got one question for you.

STU: Well, I see here that you did like, too, the actual military document that talks about what is a potentially disqualifying condition for security clearance. It says, quote: Contact with a foreign family member, if that contact creates a heightened risk of foreign exploitation, inducement, manipulation, pressure or coercion. Then goes on to say the subject’s closest and most frequent contacts are the ones most likely to present a security risk. And you’re talking about both her father, who’s now deceased, her mother and her brother. So I think the media seems to be holding you to this standard that you have to have this case completely proven when it seems like what you’re saying is, is there a legitimate process question: Are they actually asking these questions before handing out these clearances.

GLENN: Right. This has been ‑‑ I mean, your links and your footnotes ‑‑ and they’re down, by the way. I don’t know if you know that, Michele. But the Al‑Jazeera links that you put in and you said, here, go link ‑‑ go find the story on Al‑Jazeera. We can’t get to them this morning.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: Oh, really?

GLENN: Oh, yeah. We’re going to need ‑‑

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: Gosh. Maybe we can go ‑‑ maybe we can go in the past and dig them up so that we can resurrect them.

GLENN: Yeah, we’re going to have to get them because they’ve either been scrubbed or they’re being hammered, you know, by so much traffic which I highly doubt.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: Heavens.

GLENN: So that’s ‑‑ I mean, you have links showing that in Al‑Jazeera’s own coverage.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: Well, these links were up as of last Friday.

GLENN: Yeah, well, they’re not ‑‑

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: I wrote the letter and we got it out by midnight last Friday night and the links were up last Friday. So they’ve taken them down. Gee.

GLENN: I will tell you that that’s not unusual. As we’ve followed these stories like this, that’s really not unusual anymore.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: That’s even more reason why we should be looking into this.

GLENN: Yeah. Let me just say this to you and then one more quick question. I just wrote a letter to the president of my company for The Blaze and he’s in charge of all content. He’s kind of our news, you know, our uber news director, if you will, he’s the president of content. And I just said we know the truth on this story. We’ve had this for a while. I do not want this company to sit down on this. So we are going to cover this and continue to cover this to make sure that people hear this story because, Michele, you guys are absolutely right and it is a matter of national survival.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: That’s right.

GLENN: Let me ask you ‑‑

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: National security.

GLENN: Let me ask you one quick question. John McCain and all of the elephant media are falling right in line with the Muslim Brotherhood. Bullcrap. What did John McCain do yesterday?

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: He went on the Senate floor and he gave a spirited defense of Huma Abedin, who is a friend of his. And so that’s what he did and I think ‑‑

GLENN: But you’re not saying that she is compromised? You’re saying have we looked into this, right?

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: That’s right. That’s all we’re saying because we did not infer that she is a member of the Muslim Brotherhood or that she’s working on behalf of the Muslim Brotherhood.

GLENN: Right.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: Our point was regarding the security clearance.

GLENN: Right.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: And did she have to go through the same sort of process that anyone else has to go to. Did they check the boxes. Because if the State Department breaks American law to bring a terrorist into the White House, a member of a terrorist organization, it certainly is conceivable that maybe they looked the other way on issuing the security clearance. That’s all we’re doing is asking a question.

GLENN: I have to tell you, we’re at war. We’re at war with people in the Middle East, and her ‑‑ she’s compromised ‑‑ forget about the Muslim thing. She’s compromised or could have been compromised. Her husband was sending dirty photos of himself. I mean, you know, in a wartime, you would never put that person in a delicate situation because the family has already been compromised. But I digress.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: Well, and ‑‑

GLENN: Thank you very much. Go ahead.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: I was just going to say the Muslim Brotherhood elements have declared war against the United States.

GLENN: All right.

CONGRESSWOMAN BACHMANN: ‑‑ and Israel. And we need to recognize that they are at war, even if we don’t fully, are onto this. And we’ve got to, but I thank you and everyone at The Blaze for taking this on because the media has a completely different view of it. So thank you.

UNITED NATIONS –  A little more than a week after accusing Iran of supplying arms for Syria’s bloody crackdown on democracy-minded rebels, the UN has given Tehran a key seat at negotiations for a global arms treaty.
 


The stunning appointment by member states attending the UN Conference of the Arms Trade Treaty in New York came last week, and is just the latest example of the world body appointing rogue and repressive regimes to leadership roles. The 15-nation committee to which Iran was appointed hopes to guide what could eventually become the first legally binding global treaty aimed at regulating the international trade of conventional arms.

Critics say asking Iran to help craft a treaty aimed at stopping arms proliferation to terrorist groups and rogue states makes a mockery of the talks. Just two weeks ago, the UN Security Council accused Tehran of shipping arms to Syria, and Iran is also suspected of hiding illegal nuclear weapons facilities from international watchdogs.

“Right after a UN Security Council report found Iran guilty of illegally transferring guns and bombs to Syria, which is now murdering thousands of its own people, it defies logic, morality and common sense for the UN to elect this same regime to a global post in the regulation of arms transfers,” UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer told FoxNews.com.

Talks are taking place throughout the month, with Argentina serving as president and the other 14 nations, including the U.S., Iran, China and Russia, as deputies, or vice presidents. The treaty would regulate conventional arms and not weapons of mass destruction, such as nuclear, chemical or biological arms.

Any treaty would have to be ratified by the Senate in order to be enforceable against U.S. citizens or corporations. The talks have already raised concerns in the U.S. that an international pact could curb Americans’ Second Amendment rights. The conference was backed by the Obama administration, in a reversal of the Bush administration, which had opposed a UN General Assembly resolution launching the treaty process in 2006.

Iran gloated about its appointment, with its news agencies IRNA and ISNA boasting about the Islamic Republic’s appointment as a “deputy” to the treaty talks, and the Tehran Times touting that Iran’s mission to the UN will be “assisting the president” of the conference in conducting business.

At the meeting in which Iran was named to the committee, no nations — including the U.S. — objected. But the U.S. State Department scrambled to play down the significance of the appointment, arguing there are safeguards protecting against any treaty not in the U.S. interest from being passed.

“Obviously we oppose [Iran’s appointment], but it’s a symbolic position with little impact on a month-long negotiation that must be decided by consensus,” said one senior State Department official, who asked not to be identified because a more formal response was still being prepared.

“It will ultimately face the approval of the United States regardless of which country holds one of 14 powerless vice president positions. At that point, we will be looking for an arms trade treaty that makes the legitimate global weapons trade safer by bringing the rest of the world’s arms trade regulations up to the high [current] U.S. standard.”

Just last year, Ambassador Joseph Torsella, the Obama administration’s U.S. Representative to UN for Management and Reform, told the Council on Foreign Relations the U.S. would no longer go along with appointments that send the wrong message.

“We’re going to assert a common-sense principle across the UN: If a member state is under Security Council sanction for weapons proliferation or massive human-rights abuses, it should be barred, plain and simple, from leadership roles like chairmanships in UN bodies,” Torsella said. “Abusers of international law or norms should not be the public face of the UN.”

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon addressed the arms trade conference on the same day as Iran’s appointment, but failed to mention it.

Instead he focused the need for an arms trade treaty to advance in tandem with efforts to control the proliferation of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction.

“Nuclear issues capture headlines, but conventional arms are killing people every day,” Ban told the UN’s 193 member states.

Significantly, Iran is also defying the UN over pursuit of its nuclear program, which the West believes is aimed at developing a nuclear weapon.

Conference spokesman Ewen Buchanan said the choice of Iran was solely that of the Asia-Pacific group, and stressed the conference secretariat was “not in charge of this member-state process.”

The conference is taking place after the Obama administration moved in 2009 to support holding the event – reversing the position of the Bush administration, which opposed a UN General Assembly resolution launching the treaty process in 2006.

The U.S. has long listed Iran as a state sponsor of terrorism, and both it and Israel accuse the Islamic Republic of providing support to Mideast terror groups that seek Israel’s destruction.

Meanwhile, incongruous appointments take place with alarming frequency at the UN, and include Syria’s appointment to a UNESCO human rights committee last fall, and Saudi Arabia’s earlier appointment to the board of the women’s rights agency UN Women – despite laws in the Arab kingdom that don’t even allow women to drive.

Syria, meanwhile, is quietly competing to become a member of the UN Human Rights Council – which the UN bills as the world’s foremost arbiter of human rights violations.

“The UN’s choice of Iran is exactly why we fear that Syria’s declared bid for a UN Human Rights Council seat is not impossible,” said Neuer, whose organization also uncovered the Syrian candidacy.

Lawmakers Blast Administration For Calling Fort Hood Massacre ‘Workplace Violence’

Sen. Susan Collins on Wednesday blasted the Defense Department for classifying the Fort Hood massacre as workplace violence and suggested political correctness is being placed above the security of the nation’s Armed Forces at home.

During a joint session of the Senate and House Homeland Security Committee on Wednesday, the Maine Republican referenced a letter from the Defense Department depicting the Fort Hood shootings as workplace violence. She criticized the Obama administration for failing to identify the threat as radical Islam.

“The documents attached illustrate how the Department is dealing with the threat of violent Islamist extremism in the context of a broader threat of workplace violence,” read the letter, which was obtained by Fox News.

Thirteen people were killed and dozens more wounded at Fort Hood in 2009, and the number of alleged plots targeting the military has grown significantly since then. Lawmakers said there have been 33 plots against the U.S. military since Sept. 11, 2001, and 70 percent of those threats have been since mid-2009.  Major Nidal Hasan, a former Army psychiatrist, who is being held for the attacks, allegedly was inspired by radical U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who was killed in a U.S. drone strike in Yemen in late September. The two men exchanged as many as 20 emails, according to U.S. officials, and Awlaki declared Hasan a hero.

The chairman of the Senate Homeland Security Committee, Connecticut independent Sen. Joe Lieberman, said the military has become a “direct target of violent Islamist extremism” within the United States.

“The stark reality is that the American service member is increasingly in the terrorists’ scope and not just overseas in a traditional war setting,” Lieberman told Fox News before the start of Wednesday’s hearing.

In June, two men allegedly plotted to attack a Seattle, Wash., military installation using guns and grenades. In July, Army Pvt. Naser Abdo was accused of planning a second attack on Fort Hood. And in November, New York police arrested Jose Pimentel, who alleged sought to kill service members returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Both Pimentel and Abdo also allegedly drew inspiration from al-Awlaki and the online jihadist magazine Inspire, which includes a spread on how to “Make a Bomb in the Kitchen of Your Mom.”

Rep. Peter King of New York, the Republican chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, said military service members are “symbols of America’s power, symbols of America’s might.”

“And if they (military personnel) can be killed, then that is a great propaganda victory for al Qaeda,” King told Fox News.

King said there is also evidence that extremists have joined the services.

“There is a serious threat within the military from people who have enlisted who are radical jihadists,” King said. “The Defense Department is very concerned about them. They feel they’re a threat to the military both for what they can do within the military itself and also because of the weapons skills they acquire while they’re in the military.”

The witnesses testifying before the joint session include Paul N. Stockton, assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense; Jim Stuteville, U.S. Army senior adviser for counterintelligence operations and liaison to the FBI; Lt. Col. Reid L. Sawyer, director of the Combating Terrorism Center at West Point, and Darius Long, whose son, Army Pvt. William Andrew Long, was shot and killed at an Arkansas military recruitment center in 2009.

A second private was also injured in the Arkansas attack. Both victims had just finished basic training and had not been deployed. They were outside the Arkansas recruitment center when the shooter opened fire from a passing truck. The shooter, Carlos Bledsoe, pleaded guilty to the crime earlier this year.

In a letter to the court, Bledsoe said he carried out the attack on behalf of al Qaeda in Yemen — the group that was behind the last two major plots targeting the U.S. airline industry.

“My faith in government is diminished. It invents euphemisms … Little Rock is a drive by and Fort Hood is just workplace violence. The truth is denied,” Long testified.

King said the web is the driver of the new digital jihad.

“It enables people — rather than having to travel to Afghanistan to learn about jihad or to be trained, they can do it right over the Internet,” he said. “And this is a growing role.”

And while Awlaki and his colleague Samir Khan, who was behind the magazine Inspire, were killed in a CIA-led operation in September, King warned against overconfidence that al Qaeda in Yemen was done.

“This is a definite short-term victory for us. There’s no doubt they are going to regroup, that there will be others who will be providing Internet data, inspiration to jihadists in this country, instructions on how to make bombs,” he said.

While King was heavily criticized, in some quarters, for launching his hearings 10 months ago on homegrown terrorism, the congressman said the joint session shows the threat is legitimate, and recognized as such by other members of Congress.

“To me it’s a validation of what I’ve been trying to do all year,” King emphasized. “There’s a definite threat from Islamic radicalization in various parts of our society, including within the military, and we can’t allow political correctness to keep us from exposing this threat for what it is.”

Libyan Leader Declares Nation Islamic, Sharia Law to be Implemented; Is another Radical Islamist State Forming?

Libya’s new leader declared his country’s liberation Sunday and set out  plans for the future with an Islamist tone. In a televised address,  transitional leader Mustafa Abdul-Jalil declared his nation will adopt Sharia  law as the basis of government, and immediately announced the canceling  of all bank loans in violation of such law. The announcement may prove a  serious setback for the Obama administration, which had promised support  for a post-Gadhafi democratic Libya.

And he [Transitional government leader Mustafa Abdul-Jalil] laid out a vision for the post-Gadhafi future with an Islamist tint, saying Islamic Sharia law would be the “basic source” of legislation and existing laws that contradict the teachings of Islam would be nullified. In a gesture that showed his own piety, he urged Libyans not to express their joy by firing guns in the air, but rather to chant “Allahu Akbar,” or God is Great. He then stepped aside from the podium and knelt to offer a brief prayer of thanks.

Abdul-Jalil said new banks would be set up to follow the Islamic banking system, which bans charging interest as a practice deemed usury. For the time being, he said interest would be canceled from any personal loans already taken out and less than 10,000 Libyan dinars (about $7,500).

He also announced the annulment of an existing family law that limits the number of wives Libyan can take, contradicting the provision in the Muslim holy book, the Quran, that allows men up to four wives.

Youcef Nadarkhani converted from Islam to Christianity when he was 19. Now he’s a 34-year-old pastor facing execution by Iran for apostasy.

Because it involves the barbaric persecution of one of their coreligionists, Christian conservatives in the US and Europe have been doing their best to focus the world’s attention on Pastor Nadarkhani’s case. But anyone who believes in freedom, self-determination and human dignity ought to be appalled. The idea that any state in 2011 reserves for itself the right to punish a citizen for rejecting official theology is not a matter for debate. It’s backward, fascistic and disgusting.

 

[He] was initially charged with protesting, but charges against him were later changed to ‘apostasy’ – or abandoning Islam – and ‘ evangelizing Muslims’, which both carry the death sentence.

He was later tried and found guilty of apostasy in September 2010, and sentenced to death by the court in the city of Rasht.
